Subject: New Film Series Coming to Chatham Community Library and Carrboro Arts Center

Chatham Community Library, the Chatham Arts Council, and the Carrboro Arts Center proudly present the film series “America’s Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music from Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway.” This series of six programs, each guided by a scholar/presenter, takes an in-depth look at various musical genres. The programs are free and open to the public, registration is not required and participants may attend as many sessions as they like. Note that three of the programs will be held at the Carrboro Arts Center and three will take place at Chatham Community Library. All programs begin at 7 pm and locations/topics are as follows:

At Chatham Community Library:

Tuesday, January 29: Broadway and Tin Pan Alley
Tuesday, February 26: Rock
Tuesday, March 5: Latin Rhythms from Mambo to Hip Hop

At the Carrboro Arts Center

Tuesday, January 22: The Blues and Gospel Music
Tuesdsay, February 5: Swing Jazz
Tuesday, February 12: Country and Bluegrass

This series is a project of the Tribeca Film Institute in partnership with the American Library Association Public Programs Office, Tribeca Flashpoint, and the Society for American Music. The program is made possible by a major grant from The National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor.
