PITTSBORO – Chatham County needs additional applicants to serve on the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), which identifies and studies transportation issues and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.  The long-term goal is to have access to various modes of transportation for people and goods.

The committee has several vacancies with varying term lengths up to three years.  The committee especially needs applicants with interest or expertise in public transportation, personal motor vehicle transportation (such as cars and motorcycles) and larger commercial vehicles, such as trucks to transport products.

TAC is currently working on a Comprehensive Transportation Plan for the county, which will identify highway, public transportation, bicycle and pedestrian projects that will be needed over the next thirty years.
