Regarding the impotence of Frontline and other spot treatments – my vet has told me they’ve long since started seeing ‘breaks’ in the spot treatments (parasites are becoming tolerant of the chemical) and switched my dog to Comfortis. It’s a prescription treatment, but an appointment wasn’t necessary – we just stopped by the vet and picked some up. Within an hour of giving my dog the medication, fleas were falling off him, dead. I bathed him a day later and they were all gone. It works on fleas and ticks. Single dose lasts a month.

Just wanted to note that Comfortis does not work on ticks, thus leaving your dog susceptible to tick born diseased.
