I don’t know what kind of insect this is, but it sounds intriguing. I know that there are a number of small, solitary, ground-dwelling wasps which fill various niches — many of them parasitize and kill other insects (those would be the “helpful” wasps, from a human point of view). It may be that you don’t want to discourage them from spreading!
There are websites where you can submit questions about insects, insect identification, specific types of insects etc. Here is one. A number of entomologists are listed on this site, each with a description of their area of expertise and what type of questions they are qualified to answer. Each expert also has a rating based on their

knowledge, clarity, timeliness and politeness. Include your geographical location. If you can send them a picture with your query, that would be extremely helpful.
