We would like to thank everyone for their support with the SSM-JAM (Sharpe Store Music – Junior Appalachian Education Program), we have many excited kids and teachers.  We do have a need for some instruments for loaners for some of our students.  If you have a guitar, banjo, or fiddle gathering dust, or maybe you have too many of them we would love to have you donate the instrument to the SSM-JAM it would be a tax deductible contribution.  You can also donate monetary gifts – for more information you can call Denise Dunn at 919-548-3458 or 919-548-9477.

Request to participate in a survey of Chatham County taxpayers:

Since 2005, Chatham County spending has increased by 63 %, from $ 49 million to $ 80 Million.  This survey asks what you think is proper and right about
this trend.  It also asks how you rate services among the departments.

The survey is a query to determine the opinions of Chatham citizens on the quality of government and the relevance of this trend in these economic times.  Many lost fifty percent of their portfolio strength in 2008-9, lost jobs, suffered foreclosures, lost home value below recent appraisal levels, and can not borrow or refinance with current banking practices.

Wondering if there is an active garden club in Pittsboro… I’m no expert but would love to be a part of helping Pittsboro bloom. Yes, spring fever is hitting!! Even with the forecast of snow, I’ve seen the crocuses blooming and the daffodils pushing their way up… spring IS coming…

I have tried google and turned up one mention in the Chatham Journal of needing volunteers to form a garden club, but the article is from 2008.

Considering the absolutely *preposterous* amount of Chatham folks who lose track of their dearly beloved dogs on what seems to be a weekly basis, I find it incredibly ironic that we now have a “Volunteer Cordinator” for the Chatham Chapter of Coalition to Unchain Dogs.
