Posted below are the last of our Personal Enrichment classes for the
spring. Stay tuned for our summer listings

March 7-19, times are varied. Workshop dates are March 7, March 12,
March 13, March 14, March 19. Hot & Salty. This workshop is for those
potters that are beyond the beginner level of wheel throwing and
glazing. Students will learn the skills, techniques and safety issues
necessary to complete a successful cone 10 Salt firing. The course
includes wheel work, glazing, making wadding, cone packs, and kiln wash;
preparing the kiln, loading and firing. Instructor: Jennifer Siegel,
Siler City pottery studio. Cost: $152.

New “Food Pantry” needs donations

We are getting ready to open our New “Food Pantry” in the Moncure area.  We need metal shelving and a freezer.Â

We have a nice refrigerator, it needs a freon charge.  Is there someone that can put freon in it for us?Â

We appreciate your donations and anxious to open our doors again.

The new name of the “Food Pantry” will be  “God’s Helping Hands” and will be located at the Liberty Chapel Church in Moncure.Â

Therapeutic Alternatives Expands Mental Health Services in Chatham County

Beginning March 1, 2010, Therapeutic Alternatives will expand its contract
with OPC Area Program to provide a variety of MH/DD/SA services for
children, adolescents and adults including:  Walk in Crisis services,
Community Support, Community Support Team, Outpatient Therapy (Individual
and Group), Substance Abuse Assessments and Groups, Clinical Assessments,
Medication Management and Mobile Crisis Management services to people in
Chatham County who qualify for and need the services.

Duke Center for Living at Fearrington (DCFL) is pleased to announce two upcoming programs which are open to members and non-members alike.

“Foot in Yoga” is a master class that will explore features of the foot from several perspectives: basic structure and function, yoga philosophy and poses(asanas).  The one-day class, led by Karen Bentrup, will include a presentation, movement, hands-on work, partner activities, stretches and exercises, asana and deep relaxation. It will take place on Sunday, Feb. 28th from 1-3pm in the DCFL Exercise Studio.  The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members.  Registration is required by Friday, Feb. 26th.

Calling for musicians for the Chatham Marketplace music series

Chatham Marketplace is gearing back up for its spring/summer music series which will begin on April 2.  We have  Friday night music which is on the porch or on the lawn. Music is played between 6pm -8pm.  Most any music is suitable for this venue.

That’s right free lunch every Thursday at St. Bartholomew’s from noon to 1pm. This is a community lunch and all are welcome! I’ve been volunteering for some time now and I just love seeing people of all ages and all walks of life coming together and sharing and eating! Karen Ladd had a vision and it has grown!  It is really important in these times that our community comes together to take care of their own. And this community has certainly  stepped up to the plate (literally!!)Almost all our food is donated so you never know what’s cooking but it’s guaranteed to be good with Karen and Micky Hester at the wheel! We have countless gardeners and home cooks who have donated cabbages, beans, cakes, and casseroles. Harry Horton come and plays the piano. Larry Williams makes sure we have sharp knives and all the help we need in the kitchen. Thanks to all the community volunteers who chop,slice,dice,bake,boil,
