Subject: Two exchange students need homes until June

Two very nice girls need homes until June.  They are exchange students from Thailand and China currently attending Northwood High School.  They have been in the same home but can be separated if necessary.  They have their own spending money and health insurance.  The girls enjoy tennis, skating, movies, cooking and shopping.

They will be staying with me in Greensboro until homes are found and I am unable to drive them to and from Northwood daily.  I do not want to change their school this late in the year.  If interested or if you want more information, please contact me at pbarnette1@triad.rr.com

Subject: complaint

The recent General Store Cafe complaint is really sad.  There are two sides to the story and I’d like to know the restaurant’s side.  We ate there for Valentine’s Day and had an extremely good meal.  The petty complaints that come out on the chatlist drive me crazy. No nerve to handle a situation when it is happening.  A Walter Mitty are we?  I am glad you won’t be eating there again-they don’t need your type.

“Subject: I highly recommend S&H Oil Co. in Siler City!”

I too recently used S&H Oil in Siler City.   Their propane prices were the best I found and they were out here to refill it in no time flat.  Also very friendly and a pleasure to work with.   If you need propane, check them out.

Another recommendation for you chatlisters, this time for those needing a plumber.  I had Jeff Murray out today to deal with an ongoing plumbing drainage problem.  I’ve had another local company out to work on this, and had a negative experience (very expensive and the problem just cropped up again quickly).  Jeff was knowledgeable, friendly, extremely competent and his prices were very affordable.  I highly recommend Jeff for plumbing (I think he does water treatment systems as well).  Murray’s Plumbing (919)663-4041 or (336)264-2398.

Eleven African American Narrative Quilts

Quilts by Heather A. Williams have been exhibited in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. In North Carolina she has had exhibitions at the Robert and Sallie Brown Gallery at UNC Chapel Hill, and the National Humanities Center. Her commissioned quilts are exhibited in the American Studies Department (and on their website) at Yale University; the Kahn Institute at Smith College; the School of Social Work at Smith College; and the Stone Center at UNC Chapel Hill.

The school board will be holding a hearing on the 2010-11 budget during  the regular board meeting work session Monday, March 1, 6:30 pm at the  Central Office in Pittsboro. The public can comment, but you need to sign up at the beginning of the meeting in order to speak.
