Brian Bock has launched his bid to unseat George Lucier in District 3. On Monday, February 8, 2010 Bock filed his Notice of Candidacy at the Chatham County Board of Elections.

Bock decided to run for County Commissioner “because the actions and proposals of the current county leadership are raising our taxes, trampling on our property rights, and spending our tax dollars on unnecessary pet projects in a time of severe recession. The current and proposed policies create an environment that is hostile to job creation and retention. They are policies that will scare off, rather than attract new businesses to Chatham County.”

The Chatham Crocs 12U Girls Fastpitch Softball Team of Pittsboro is having a fundraiser to raise funds to attend and participate in the NSA 12U Fastpitch “B†Class World Series in Chattanooga Tennessee in July. The funds that are raised from this Barbecue sale will help pay for some of the travel expenses and the entry fee into the NSA 12U Fastpitch “B†Class World Series. The Chatham Crocs 12U Girls Fastpitch Softball team is a team that is base in Pittsboro and consists of 12U girls from Chatham County. All of these 12U girls attend Chatham County Schools and have goals of playing for their high schools at the next level.

Subject: congratulations to new school board member Gary Leonard

Gary Leonard was appointed by the Chatham County Board of Education during its meeting on Monday evening, February 8, to fill the seat in district 4 left vacant when Gerald Totten passed away in December. Leonard spent many years as a teacher and coach in Chatham County Schools and retired from the district in 2007. This term expires in the latter part of 2010.  The Board interviewed five applicants last Thursday night, February 4, during an open session.
