Subject: school board meeting Monday 1/11
I’ve been posting agendas and reviews of school board meetings on the BBS for quite awhile, but I was asked to put that info on the Chatlist as well. Last Monday the school board had an all-day retreat, followed by a short regular board meeting. I wasn’t able to be at the retreat, but here’s what happened at the meeting.

Subject: Hats Off to Vance at General Store Cafe
As many Chathamites know, Chatham Community Church hosted two Christmas Eve services this year at the General Store Cafe. We want to publicly thank Vance and his staff for serving us while we held our two services for close to 200 people! Not only did Vance and his staff stay with us long after closing on Christmas Eve, he worked tirelessly to make our effort a success. This is in keeping with his giving spirit, as you already know if you have attended a Burrito Bash for so many Chatham County non-profits. In further thanks to Vance, Chatham Community Church has made a donation to the Heifer International Project onVance’s behalf, so that somewhere in the world a family will receive an animal to help sustain their livelihood. Hats off to Vance and his service to Chatham!

Pittsboro Appliance is closing at the end of the month after 27 years of service to our town and beyond. I just spoke with Archie who runs the place. He said that yesterday he delivered his last washer and dryer.

Hi Frances,
The best piano tuner I have found is David Mainesmith. He spent hours restoring and tuning my 100+ year old piano and he’s extremely reasonable. http://artisticpianotuning.com/ or
