I am, as I know many others are, greatly saddened by the loss of Colonel Totten.  It has been my privilege to know him and work with him.  I pray that God will look upon him and be kind to him, and give him peace.  As a fellow veteran, I honor his service to our nation and the uniform he wore with pride and valor.

The Chatham Board of Commissioners is considering a unanimous request by the Chatham Board of Education to redraw the current four Board of Education Districts to be identical to the five Board of Commissioner election districts.

The public hearing on this request will be held on Jan. 19 at 6 pm in the Superior Courtroom in the Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro.

Please come join us on Sunday evening, Jan 24, from 5 – 8 pm at the club house at Briar Chapel in support of Chatham County Together! at our annual January event.

This year’s theme of *Tapas of the Mediterranean* will offer food  prepared by volunteers as well as from local restaurants like *Angelina’s, Crooks Corner, Mediterranean Deli, and Mariakakis Bakery,* just to name a few!  In addition to the silent auction that has been so successful over the years we are also planning a live auction of a few
of our premier items. To date these include a sculpture by Eddie White, a basketball signed by the UNC Mens team and coaches, two tickets to the UNC-Florida State game on Feb 24 and, for the younger set, an autographed photo of Miley Cyrus!

Southern Supreme

The best homegrown business in Chatham County is located a few miles south of Harper’s Crossroads in the SW corner of the county.  You can take 902 past Bear Creek to Harper’s Xroads, go 1/4 mile west and turn south at the sign.  Go a mile or so south to next intersection, turn left at sign.  Southern Supreme is a few miles down that road.  However, it is closed after the holiday peak season and reason for its existence.  It opens sometime around Halloween for the holidays.
