Dear Chatham,

A talented man running against Mayor Voller and below is what he has listed as his mission. This will give us a choice. Mr Crawford is a good family man and loves Pittsboro. He is not taking any political backing by any group. The agenda is for Pittsboro and its residents. Go to www.billcrawfordformayor.com for more information.
Why am I running for Mayor? I want to be your Mayor because I will always put Pittsboro first!

My platform is simple. I will work to keep your government as transparent for you as I can. I believe in expanding the tax base through managed growth. I want to continue the work being done to manage our water and sewer capabilities to make this happen. Finally, I will not support any tax increases of any kind.

I moved to Pittsboro because I love the people and the Town’s character and atmosphere. I work to preserve that and keep it as a wonderful place for my children to grow up.

This will be a fact based campaign.  We will examine the reasons why Pittsboro requires new leadership. We need a mayor who will put Pittsboro’s interests before personal interests.

Pittsboro needs a mayor who understands that any new revenue source, such as liquor by the drink, should be used for current obligations and needs rather than to fund an experimental bus line. This is the deepest recession we have seen in at least a quarter century. Unemployment here is double what it was two years ago. Too many families are having discussions about foreclosure at their dinner tables. This is not the time for an experiment. Pittsboro citizens should be the top priority of our leadership.

Safety of our citizens will be a top priority of mine.  Chatham Forest residents continue to wait for a safety campaign promise by the incumbent to be fulfilled.  There is still a closed entrance to Chatham Forest extending from Springdale Drive. The second entrance near the front of the development is only accessible to the first dozen or so residences.  Two accesses for emergencies need to be available to all who live there. This is not only his direct responsibility as the developer, but was a key campaign promise of Mayor Voller to correct in 2007.

During the next few months I hope to meet as many Pittsboro residents as possible. I look forward to our discussions and I promise that as your Mayor I will always keep Pittsboro First!
