I am as annoyed as anyone else by spammers – most of whom are anonymous. But when I know the source of the spammer, I forward the email to the Federal Government at: spam@uce.gov It takes no more than 5 seconds. The FTC is
trying to reduce spam and has prosecuted many organizations.
I have added this address to my contacts and I simply hit forward. Does it help? I can’t say, but I know I feel just a little more empowered when I do it.

Thanks Matt for taking the heat graciously
I hope we can all elevate the discourse as Matt has done and talk about the real issue at hand: the prosperity of local business and circulating a bona fide local currency to make that come true. Dependence on national and international bankers who care nothing about Pittsboro is a risky strategy. On the other hand, cultivating trust, cooperation and supporting homegrown business hardly sounds like “utopian shenanighans”, but a practical way to insulate ourselves from the vagaries of global corporate greed.

Subject: Rudolf, Kiem and Estill just don’t get it
Matthew Rudolf asks that we be courteous to one another, yet he was anything but on his visit to Antonella’s (there were witnesses)
Tim Kiem’s future does not depend on the Plenty. It depend on him selling houses. Do you think he is willing to accept payment of his commission in Plenties?
Lyle Estill can keep his cutesy “In Each Other We Trust” quote on the Plenty. I’ll stick with the good ol’ “In God We Trust”. Thank you very much.

Enough talk about the Plenty but there is another problem. Most local businesses charge more than the regular etailers and in a time when money is tight that is difficult.

Did you not understand the part about someone adding me to a junk mail list for posting against their views on the Chatlist? And somehow me blasting off steam over that is “hateful?”

Matt,
The main issue for me regarding your post is that of being a good customer. Us business owners are expected by some to do whatever the person walking in the door wants, no matter how far out or even impossible that request may be, and we’re viewed in a negative light when we refuse to fulfill such requests.
