Not only do they think the speed limit is suppose to be the minimum speed, they tail gate cars going 60 mph and over in the left lane.  All kinds including woman with children in the cars, speeding and tailgating at high speeds while talking on the phone as well as texting.

You should see them, where it says reduced speed at Cole Park Plaza intersection. (45mph)  They can not seem to compute it in their little brains. Now, can you all imagine these same drivers with one or more drinks in them.

People, people, people. . .what flew up your britches??!! Really, it’s getting to the point that a person has to put on a suit of armor before reading the chatlist anymore. Can’t we get back to requests and recommendations instead of all these mean-spirited recriminations? Sheesh!! Go on, drive in the left-hand lane to the nearest place that accepts Plentys and have yourselves a big ol’ mixed drink, for goodness sake.

Jennifer

We canceled our satellite service and are watching HDTV on a $5 antenna

Stephanie,

In response to Chatlist #3445 regarding digital tv conversion.  My husband made his own antenna for about $5 that he put in our attic and it is working wonderfully with our LCD HDTV and older tv with the converter box.  We cancelled our satellite service and are saving so much it was well worth purchasing a digital dtvpal dvr at http://www.dtvpal.com so we can record our shows.  The kids miss some Disney shows, but there are a ton of great shows on UNC/PBS.  I miss the food network and my husband doesn’t get his fill of HGTV, but WUNC has a lot of great things to fill the void.  We get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, a few other channels too. Your reception will depend on how many obstructions are in the way (trees) and how low or high your house is positioned.

I want to thank all of you who sent me some useful suggestions re. my pitiful TV reception at my cave in the woods.  I’ll be tinkering around with options, bur more likely will be reading all those books I purchase at the bi-annual library book sales (next sale coming up in September, for all those who have tossed the TVs and coverter boxes).

As noted in Vickie’s post, I had received the same suggestion from a periodical out of NY, and am copying the instructions here in case others need to run this drill.
