As a former resident of NC (Chatham Forest), and one of many diagnosed with RMSF just on my block, I would like for all the “Deer Huggers” to understand that in many parts of the country, there is a great interest in trying to understand the correlation between vector populations and disease occurances.? Yes, other furry rodents are vectors for ticks.
But the vast majority are deer.
And deer travel the farthest.
And deer carry more ticks/animal.
Please read this important study on deer as vectors for disease-carrying ticks:

Hi folks. I agree that lots of folks don’t seem to understand the ins and outs of our traffic circle and perhaps some yield signs would be an effective measure.
In addition, I have a feeling that the folks who have mentioned the traffic coming from “Siler City” actually intended to indicate the traffic coming to the circle from West Street (business 64) as there is no reason to believe that our neighbors from Siler City are any less aware of traffic laws than other Chathamites or visitors.

Michael,
Due to the high number of fire ant mounds on organic farms last year (of course they weren’t confined to organic farms but my point was I fielded many calls from organic growers looking for a solution), I developed a web page on organic fire ant management on my website at http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/chatham/ag/SustAg/fireants.html
I have used the organic baits in my garden and found them to be very effective.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck,
Debbie

Odd everyone should mention those coming from Siler City as never yielding on the Pittsboro Traffic Circle. My experience has been different. I have almost been hit several times by people coming off of 15-501 heading South. Seems to me that the people from that direction don’t yield very often. I guess its all in perspective. The bottom line is that people in general don’t yield at that circle.

I agree with the traffic coming from SIler City Never yeilding. I have almost hit several people when I am trying to go down 15-501. If you are already in the circle you have the right of way. If you are coming off 64 or 15-501 you need to yeild to the traffic going?around ?the circle.Just last night in Apex at the new shopping center, I was yeilding and I had a lady STOP in the circle to wave me on, and I would not go. I waved her on until she went, she had the right of way.

Ace
You are right, Ace. Those coming from Siler City never yield and drive right on through the round-a-bout. I have noticed this over the years.
The other entrances to the round-a-bout, people yield except those coming from Siler City. Perhaps, the Yield sign should be relocated and made much larger for those coming in from Siler City. And, with a new Yield sign, perhaps, an officer directing for a few days to get those coming from Siler City to start stopping and yielding.

Carole,
You blast me every time I mention the shortcommings of law enforcement. Just to let you know, I can handle what officer Hadley dishes out to me. I was treated a certain way by him and started talking about it, to my friend and to the community. In my opinion the response has been great. I have read numerous stories about similar treatment to other people. Do you know what this means? This means that others feel the same way. This means that his behavior is being scutinized by the community, polititions and most importantly his superiors.

I too, have witnessed cars rapidly ”slingshotting” out of the traffic circle, most notably when I am crossing West Street in front of the General Store Cafe. Several times I have feared for the safety of myself and my two children, one of whom is disabled and not a very fast walker.
