This is the most sensible piece of advice anyone has given on the Chatlist in months… on any topic.

It absolutely drives me crazy when people are raising free-range chickens and trying to grow organic vegetables yet are against hunting deer – as you said, free-range, organic, and there for the taking. The state gives you, for a $25 fee, SIX DEER TAGS! That’s a lot of protein for pretty darn cheap. And if you cannot find six deer in Chatham county looking to get shot, you just must  not be looking. I have that many in my back yard most nights when I get home…  munching on my fescue.

Commissioner Luciers’s comrades are leaping to his defense (Chatlist 3354) for his last-minute ducking, weaseling, or chickening out of a forum organized to discuss actions taken by Lucier and other commissioners, plus other matters of interest to the county. Their “reasons” are even sillier than the cobbled-up excuses he gave for breaking his promise to talk to a group of the people that he works for.

Does someone program the town clock’s chimes? As I was leaving the General Store in the rain at noon on Saturday, “raindrops keep falling on my head” was playing and “singing in the rain” began as I drove off. Are the bells coordinated with weather reports or was this a joyful coincidence?

Dr Dykers – i have read that the blood donation system does not screen for many of these, there are many more than the 3 you mentioned (I can name babesia bartonella and there are many more) – also these are carried by fleas, mosquito’s etc.  I also believe these are passed without knowing about the bite and can remain undetected for along time (dormant) before being set off.

I’d love to hear more about these issues here in the local area.
