Commissioner Lucier made the right decision

I don’t understand your point, Gene, unless your point is that you wanted to see George get clobbered by an angry mob.

No public official should submit themselves to lynching meetings manipulated by outside hate groups. I read the flyers being secretly distributed in Silk Hope, and I’ve been to the websites of Ali-PAC and the other organizations with a lot of bad-mouth and almost no members, and I’ve read the national reports about these groups.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have posted a series of video clips of folks speaking about the Chatham County Commissioners’ ICE Resolution and illegal immigration on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BFB53A6376780980

I was and am planning to be at the public forum sponsored by CCV at the Dry Dock Restaurant in Cole Park Plaza Thursday evening at 7 pm and get some video clips of the proceedings.

Deer don’t really “roam” all that much

Sherri – I think the line you wrote (below) is backwards, or inside-out, or something.

As the  surrounding counties develop more, the deer move to where they can find  land to roam.

Deer don’t really “roam” all that much. On my little 10 acre plot, I have about a half-dozen deer that rarely leave. There is no need to. Deer move to find safety, and to get food and water. They want some thick brush or woods to bed down in, and some good grass, mast (nuts and fruit), and tender shoots  to browse on, a bit of water, and they’re happy. If they can get all that in a small space, they’re not moving.

From: Debra Henzey
Subject: Copy of statement from Commissioner Chair George Lucier to CCV

Commissioner Lucier asked me to forward this statement that he sent to the Chatham Conservative Voice today concerning the forum they are sponsoring tomorrow evening:

FROM COMMISSIONER LUCIER:

I had originally agreed to participate in a panel discussion sponsored by the Chatham Conservative Voice (CCV), scheduled for the evening of February 26. I did so with the understanding that this would  be a forum where local people could have a civil discussion about the 287(g) program as well as many other critical issues facing Chatham County, such as: school funding, the capital improvement program, budget priorities, economic development, revaluation issues, and implementation of the land use plan.

Subject: Resistance is  Futile !!!!

I was concerned when I got my tax re evaluation so I made a phone call. I recognized the lady on the phone and realized she must have had a number of people bitching at her to be as hateful as she sounded on the phone. I am saying this in defense of her as I have delt with her in person before and know she is normally very pleasant to deal with. With this in mind I asked several questions.

Deer population explosion in Chatham County

March 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Subject: overpopulation of deer in Chatham county

In response to the well-intentioned posting below, I must respectfully disagree.

While it is absolutely true that habitat destruction is putting pressure on wildlife, that is not why deer have become such a problem. The population explosion among deer is well-documented, and it is largely a consequence of two factors: reduction in hunting, and availability of food in suburban (and urban) neighborhoods. It is a common myth that deer move around looking for food as they are displaced. Actually, deer are very territorial and will remain on their home ranges and starve to death rather than move elsewhere.

You are not the only one fed up with Dominos

You are not the only one fed up with Dominos. The last few times we have ordered from there the pizza tasted like it was reheated. Or when we would get home the order would be wrong.  But we also had a problem with coupons there.

Last year at prom the kids received coupons for $5.00 pizzas for the mediums. No expiration dates, quanities or store listed as to where they could be used.  When we used them at the Pittsboro store we were charged for the $5.55 price.
