Sorry, Ace. You do not have to stop for a yield sign unless there is traffic approaching. Please read the following quote from the NC Driver’s Manual:

“The yield sign is triangular shaped with the point at the bottom. This sign is red and white with the word “YIELD” in large letters at the top. When you approach the yield sign, you must slow down and yield the right of way. Your need to stop depends on the traffic on the intersecting street. To avoid interfering with that traffic, you must stop and wait for it to pass.”

To those of you who “generalized” and made it to sound like that everyone who is “slingshotting” at the traffic circle” is from Siler City – do you know for a fact the culprits are from Siler City?  Or, did  you mean to say “traffic traveling 64 East”.  I am glad to know that no one in Pittsboro has ever made such a move.  Being from Siler City, I just found it somewhat offensive.  It may not be what you meant, but that is how it appeared.

The Chatham YMCA will be offering “Wildcats After the Bell” at Horton Middle School beginning in August 2009.

This program will be offered Mon-Fri 2:45pm – 6:00pm.  The cost for the program will be $180.00/month for those that attend 4-5 days a week and $132.00 for those that attend 3 or less days a week.  Parents pay Sept – May.  Students attend Aug – June.  In regards to this summer, this age group can be accommodated at Perry Harrison and Moncure schools through the Chatham YMCA Camp Wannago camps.  The camps are theme based with lots of fun packed in each day.

To anyone concerned: I subscribed to this chatlist to gain information about activities and news from around the area. So far there has been a bit of local info on painters, roofers, lost animals, found animals, etc.  But most of the “info” has contained angry bursts from uninformed people.

I’m very glad this issue is coming to notice on the Chatlist. I have often thought i wanted to speak about it and now is my chance……….

The place i feel the most afraid is in front of the General Store Cafe. I often think as cars, sometimes delivery trucks and even and occasional 18 wheeler comes sling shotting out of the circle on to West ST (heading West) that i am *amazed* that someone has not been seriously hurt or killed as a result. I have seen trucks going what seems to me to be 35 or 40 mph around that corner .

<I too, have witnessed cars rapidly  ”slingshotting” out of the traffic
<circle, most notably when I am crossing West Street in front of the General
<Store Cafe.  Several times I have feared for the safety of myself and my two
<children, one of whom is disabled and not a very fast walker.

<right on through the round-a-bout.  I have noticed this over the years.  The

Carol,

I have the legal records and related non-profit paperwork from an entity that was set up a few years back called the Pittsboro Teen Center. I think it would not take much to bring it back to life, and this is why I saved all the files in good order. They live in one of those indestructible portable plastic files waiting for their next use.

Subject: Deer and Ticks (and songbirds, too)

As a former resident of NC (Chatham Forest), and one of many diagnosed with RMSF just on my block, I would like for all the “Deer Huggers” to understand that in many parts of the country, there is a great interest in trying to understand the correlation between vector populations and disease occurances.? Yes, other furry rodents are vectors for ticks.

But the vast majority are deer.
And deer travel the farthest.
And deer carry more ticks/animal.
