Southwest Pottery Revival Series. Dates: March 6-May 1; Time: will vary. First class Friday, March 6  will meet at the CCCC Pottery Studio, Siler City, 6-9 pm. If you are a potter and would like to learn some new old techniques, this class if for you. You will learn the “old techniques† with present day innovations. Handbuilding, various shapes, burnishing surfaces, decorating w/colored slips and firing in a bonfire for oxidation and reduction.  Cost: $56.25. Instructor: Coy Quakenbush

Blank Shalena and her four year-old son Nicolas currently share a small room in a family member’s over-crowded house, where they have little space for their clothes and other belongings. She dreams of owning a home where her son will have a bedroom and a yard to play in. Though she works hard at a local hospital, she doesn’t earn enough to qualify for a regular mortgage.  She hopes to take classes some day to help her advance in her medical career and create a better life for her son and herself.

Subject: Domino’s Pizza

Wondered if any body had tried to use a gift card at the Pittsboro store?  Mine wouldn’t work.  They said they have trouble with them.  Also said maybe it hadn’t been activated (I checked and it was properly activated).  So why don’t they get it fixed?

Also, the pizza we like is listed on their sign in the window for $12.99.  If you call and order it, they’ll say it is in the $17 range.  Their explanation is that it is a coupon and you have to say the coupon price. Their flyer will show the $12.99 price and it is not a coupon -what am I missing?

Just to let everyone know how Mardi Gras really works.

This year Fat Tuesday is February 23rd.  It is the day before the beginning of Lent and Ash Wednesday

It is the last day of the Mardi Gras season for this year.

Fat Tuesday is the biggest day of parades, parties, balls and fun before the repentance of Lent.

On Ash Wednesday, there is a period of 40 days where there are no balls, parades or fun.  It all begins again after Easter.

Simon,
Thanks for your thoughts on tick-borne diseases (TBD’s). I have been treated for TBD’s five times in the last seven years, though we are not always certain that my symptoms were from tick diseases. Sometimes my doctor put me on antibiotics without doing the tests.

I am a landscaper and work outdoors and am frequently exposed to ticks.

“I would also like to start a discussion about the massive overpopulation of deer in this county and the ecological imbalance that this represents.  I think we should really think about cutting the deer population in this county by as much as we possibly can.  They are part of the life cycle of the ticks which are dominating our beautiful county.”
