What is Our Neighborhood School?
IT’S A SCHOOL!
The private school is dedicated to individualized attention as well as a creative curriculum. Students are involved in the running of the restaurant and catering, maintenace of the school grounds, they are stewards of the Rain Garden which is located behind the Pittsboro Community House, they participate in the Jr. Solar Sprint Program where they are building a solar model car and will compete in a race at NC State in the spring. Right now my 7th and 8th graders are hard at work with Geometry and each are taking a different foreign language via the computer. We also work on our keyboarding skills. We are participating in the Journey North Tulip Project which is an experiment involving students across the Northern Hemisphere tracking the growth of tulips as the season changes from winter to spring.

Subject: setups: liquor by the drink
Someone else pointed out that

2. Pittsboro (and most of the rest of Chatham) has already approved all of the various ways of serving liquor, wine and beer, except for the retail sale of mixed beverages. Technically, in Pittsboro, you could bring your own liquor and buy set-ups at an establishment set up for that, but you can’t let the person behind the bar do the pouring.
This used to be done in Orange and Wake. Ask your favorite establishment to start serving setups

*Five Element Acupuncture in Pittsboro. – Sara Ruth Kane, L.Ac.*
A year and a half has passed since I opened my acupuncture practice in Pittsboro at the Chatham Wellness Center. I introduced myself through this wonderful chatlist and then was happy to see some of my patients offer their testimonials on my behalf here as well. My name is Sara Kane, and I relocated here from Miami, Florida, where I was dean of students, clinical supervisor and faculty member at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. When my school decided to relocate to Gainesville, I decided the time had come to fulfill a long-held wish to live near my sister, who has lived in Moncure for several years now.

Regarding liquor by the drink:
I have no moral or religious objections to LBTD but am adamently opposed to sprawl, especially sprawl perpetuated by giant big box corporations.
Jonathan Davis has a valid point regarding the influx of chains (first the restaurants, then everyone else will follow). For an example just drive up to that hellish stretch of 15-501 between Chapel Hill and Durham. Not my idea of smart urban planning-it is really just a race to see how much retail space (did we really need Indigo Corner at that intersection too?) can be packed into one ugly, crowded stretch of road.
