Ain’t It About Time!!!!  All these years my husband could enjoy a beer while eating but I was stuck with soft drinks. (Blech – just don’t like the taste of beer.)  Don’t get me wrong – I love diet pepsi/coke but I never could understand why he could enjoy a beer while I was not offered the opportunity to enjoy a mixed drink (vodka collins being my favorite).  Or a margarita at San Felipe.  Why? Why? Why?  Is there really some ignorant fools out there who believe that I would get drunk as a skunk from that mixed drink but my husband would remain stone cold sober after drinking his beer??  If so, my response is “Geez!!!  Grow Up!!!”

In my experience, the ones who generally are so vocally Anti-Liquor By The Drink fall into 4 categories:

1.  are anti-alcohol of any kind;

2.  are closet drinkers and don’t want anyone else enjoying a drink in the open when they feel they need to hide their drinking;

3.  are boot-leggers;

4.  have a financial stake in businesses in other counties that financially benefit from Chathamohicans who drive across the county line to enjoy that mixed drink.  If Chatham votes in liquor by the drink, those establishments will suffer financially (or think they will).

Randy Voller – thanks for letting us know that this will be on the ballot.  My question now is:  how long do we have to wait??  What can I do to help this along????
