Live music @ Chatham’s newest restaurant
                                Saturday evening 11/29/08
The Olive Branch Caffe presents the perfect escape…
The chemistry between Robert Griffin (piano & vocals), Stu Cole (bass & vocals) & Taz Halloween (vocals) is undeniable! A potent cocktail of  humor, mischief & smokin’ sensuality, transports you back to a time & place where wisteria entwined magnolias canopied mint julep breathed gab sessions. The trio invites their audiences into their parlor of spur of the moment inside jokes makes everyone breathe a sigh of relief, between chuckles, that we all are human & washes away any pretentious notions. In any given set you may get driven to tears from belly laughs or pathos of a lost love.

Is anyone else as amazed as I am at how long a crew of heavy equipment operators have been working on the grading along the road in front of Chatham Marketplace?

I could swear they have done and re-done the grading 3 times now.  Any grading company worth its salt could do that entire job in less than a week, easy, and these guys have taken over a month, maybe even 2 now!!  Are these our tax dollars at work??  Does anyone out there have information about what is going on and if it is county taxes at work?

Our local food pantry, CORA, is in great need for some holiday restocking! Here is their current activity:

“CURRENT ACTIVITY:  Overall demand for help remains far ahead of last year. In the first quarter of our current fiscal year (July, August, September) CORA provided groceries for 3,440 people.  This represents a 70% increase compared to the same period last year.  In practical terms this amounts to about 26 tons of groceries (52,000 pounds!) in this three month period.” ~CORA

George Lucier, Chair
Chatham County Board of Commissioners
12 East Street
Pittsboro, NC 27312

Dear Chairman Lucier:

At our October 27, 2008 meeting the Town Board received an update on the current status of Pittsboro’s ABC Board. We are pleased to announce that with the hard work of the new ABC Board, new staff at the store, and cooperation with the County’s ABC Board and staff the store is once again profitable.  The aforementioned good news means the Pittsboro ABC Board will be issuing the appropriate distribution checks to the Town of Pittsboro, Pittsboro police department, and the Chatham County Law enforcement department.  (Please see the attached letter from the Chair, Harry Sugg.)
