Al Cook’s advice is the way to go with fire ants. I’ve had good luck with them by posting surveyor’s ribbon around the mounds that are close to the beaten path but enough out of the way to live with. They look like miniature crime scenes.
Four of these little crime scenes and I can get back to worrying about ticks.

Subject: Ditto to Lori
Just wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree with Bernice regarding Lorie at Salon Blue.
It had been years since I had a pedicure and the last time I’d paid some outlandish amount for one that ultimately gave me a toe disease (I hate the word fungus associated with my body)….so I went with great trepidation. I asked about cleaning the foot bath, etc. and Lorie does exactly what the podiatrist had recommended. Then, when I asked the cost for both the pedicure and manicure I had to ask again….FANTASTIC…plus my appendages look pretty glamorous. I’m goin’ back!

Today I had the pleasure of experiencing an essential raindrop treatment done by Jamie Kozlowski in Pittsboro.
Absolutely wonderful ! Her office is lovely and serene. She is gentle and nurturing. I had been down with back spasms for about 10 days. Sara Ruth Kane helped with the spasms with her acupuncture, also in Pittsboro (337-7645). My doctor had me on pain medication as well. All of the down time and medicine left me feeling tired and worn out. After the treatment from Jamie within an hour I felt revived, alert and my back was relaxed. I have another appointment with Sara Friday. I expect to be “fit as a fiddle” afterwards.

Mo-Mo is a young Pit Bull that was rescued by one of my customers, who does independent rescue. Mo came to Maureen weighing 26#’s ….his ideal weight SHOULD have been closer to 55-60#!!!! Please read his update below:
