I am rather surprised that there are not more accidents there. What causes these accidents? People and their discourtesy and refusal to slow down to the speed limit and refusal to honor the right of way of other vehicles.
Trying going the speed limit in that area. They will pass you and you see many weave in and out as they get to the intersection as if one car closer at the light will get them to where they are going any faster. I have waited at the light turning from the shopping centers onto 15-501 and watched people making the turns against oncoming traffic on 15-501, simply because they are unable to wait a few seconds more.

I can tell you for definite the only place to call is After Disaster in Greensboro.
You will want to call your homeowners insurance. We had to do this 2 months ago and our basement flooded again when the power went out. It wasn’t too bad this time because we caught it and got the generator hooked up but there was about 3 inches of water on the floor and quickly more coming.

Monk! You are so right about the City Tap.
My husband and I were in there today, after cruising the Marketplace (for a marvelous brunch), and first Sunday, where I was able to get some very nice Christmas gifts, and we loved it! The decor is beautiful, with both lots of room inside for stretching your legs, and a deck for sitting, plus a pavilion type set up for music.

The other day I was at the light at this intersection (heading North), when the car in front of me just decided to proceed through the intersection despite our red light. The cars making turns had the arrow. Maybe he saw the green and assumed it was his turn?
I honked at him, but he kept on going. He was lucky the other drivers were paying attention or there could have been another nasty wreck there that day.

Subject: au pair
We had an au pair from Cultural Care au Pair. Avoid like the plague. This girl was apparently moved from house to house because she was awful.
Let’s see. She smoked, drove our car 1000 miles with a 10 month old infant and 4 year old in it in less than 5 full days time; spent $35 to 40 per day for “gas” and would not provide receipts or tell us where she took our boys; stayed out till “bar time” every night – even though she had to start working at 7 (yes by the time you put in going to sleep and taking a shower that’s 4 hours of sleep per night to work with an infant and a preschooler).

Subject: another accident at Mann’s Chapel and 15-501
I arrived at the intersection of Mann’s Chapel and 15-501 around 10:30 am on Friday, and saw the 2 police cars and fire truck cleaning up after another wreck; the cars were devastated. Once again, it happened in front of Subway (actually, more to the front, right side of Subway.) I stopped and asked the highway patrolman who was writing up the accident what could be done to prevent more accidents. He said it was a busy intersection, and left it at that.

Subject: Computer service
Folks,
I just saw Jane Dunlap’s ad in the Chatlist and had to comment:
I’ve been a computer user since 1985, which means that I think I know more than I do, and I periodically get myself into scrapes that I can’t find a way out of. I recently did just that…again…and no one could help me fix what I broke. I tried the IT help desks (two) at UNC, where I work, and two other people I know who are computer gurus. One of them actually builds computer systems. The other is a network administrator. No one could help me, and it looked like I was going to have to completely wipe my computer and re-install the operating system, then all my programs, etc., etc., etc.

Each of our Bed and Breakfast establishments in Chatham offer their own unique themes.
In my opinion, the best in Chatham is the Bed and Breakfast at Laurel Ridge near Siler City. I’ve had the good fortune to visit over 50 Bed and Breakfasts and I consider my experiences at the Laurel Ridge to among my top 5 memories.
