Friends and Neighbors,

There was an article in the N&O today, “IRS Eager to Deliver Millions in Refunds.”  The newspaper published a complete list of people on their website.  I noticed quite a few folks from Chatham County, but the list was really hard to read.  So I’ve cut-and-pasted the Chatham folks here, FYI. (I enjoy sharing good news.)

If you know someone on this list, you might want to let ‘em know.  The IRS is wanting to give them their money!

However, if you’re looking for a huge corn maze, an excursion to Lee Farm’s maze will be worth the trip. The ten-acre maze is located on Devils Tramping Ground Rd., which is also home to the Devils Tramping Ground, supposedly one of the most haunted places in North Carolina.

Subject: Yeah, Northwood has a new girls’ golf team

Had a chance to sit down with Karen Crisp, the coach of the new Northwood Girls’ Golf Team. The team had a scrimmage with St. Mary’s of Raleigh scheduled for this afternoon.

We talk about how the team got started, what the goals are for this year and for future years. The current team consists of 3 freshmen and 2 seniors. Coach Karen hopes to build the team up to 8 to 10 players in future seasons. Anyone interested in potentially playing on the team next year can contact the coach now.

Silk Hope Old Fashioned Farmers Days

I attended one of my favorite county events yesterday – Old-Fashioned Farmers Days in Silk Hope.

As a history major I love this event. It’s an opportunity to take a look at what farming was like.

Getting some of the home-made ice cream is a most.

Subject: Do you have any problem deer?  Have bow, will travel

I am an avid bow hunter and relatively new to the Pittsboro area.  I am teaching my seven-year-old son responsible bow hunting practices and would like to take him somewhere local.

If you are looking for some quiet , prayerful time between the First Sunday activities and  the busy-ness of Monday morning, consider coming to  First Sunday Quiet Prayer at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.

The church will be open from 5:15 until 6 on the first Sunday of each month, beginning September 7 for contemplative prayer, inspired readings and Taize hymns. All are welcome.
