MARK HAMILTON comes to my office on Thursdays to fit hearing aids, and he is capable, conscientious, pleasant, and careful with patient’s money! I don’t know what brand of hearing aid he prefers and I think that is because he uses all of them as best suits any particular patient. (He only rents space cheaply because he is a pleasant tenant and a conscientious provider and I have no economic interest in his business.)

Folks,

If this man who was convicted of a crime and sent to prison is really as innocent as you all claim…can nothing be done to help him and his family?

If he has worked as hard for as long to provide service to dozens/hundreds of Chatham County citizens before this happened, is there nothing that all those citizens can do, now, to repay him for his service, his integrity for all those years?  What about getting a “case worker” to help his family cope emotionally and financially with his absence?  How about fund-raisers to help his family survive in his absence and fund-raisers to pay an attorney to try to get the conviction overturned and the case re-heard?  How about
getting some legal watchdog group involved?  The media?

I am having problems believing what I’m reading and I really don’t know why.  Was this in the Chatham County Court system?  I know of one other situation where a person was encouraged by THEIR court appointed attorney to sign paperwork admitting guilt.  Is this how things are handled around this place?  I don’t know this family at all.  I don’t know if he is guilty or not.  BUT, whether he is, or whether he isn’t, how can the punishment be so harsh for a first time offender?

What happened in October 1968?  The US performed nuclear tests at a Nevada Test site, NASA launched the first manned Apollo mission, the police raided John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s flat, and the Friends of the Pittsboro Public Library had their first meeting.  On Friday October 3rd the Friends will celebrate their 40th anniversary with lemonade and cookies on the grounds outside the Pittsboro Memorial Library. The public is invited to stop by from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for refreshments and a glimpse at the Friends’ history.
