Subject: News Alert: Chatham Robbery Suspect Killed When Vehicle Crashes After Fleeing Scene
Mid-afternoon today, the robbery of a Siler City store led Chatham County sheriff’s deputies to pursue the robbery suspects’ vehicle, which crashed on NC 902 near the Rocky River. One person in the suspect’s vehicle died in the collision and another was quickly apprehended.
According to Capt. Roy Allen, a third suspect was apprehended near Pittsboro and has been taken to the hospital for treatment of potential injuries. “He apparently was able to catch a ride from somewhere near the collision site to the Pittsboro area, but we were able to find him fairly quickly,” said Allen.

Subject: Commissioner Barnes holding new positions on major boards
PITTSBORO-Chatham County Commissioner Patrick Barnes recently was elected vice chair of the Board of Trustees for Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) and also was appointed by Speaker of the House Joe Hackney to serve on the newly created N.C. Small Business Contractor Authority in the State Department of Commerce.
CCCC’s Board of Trustees elect their own chair and vice chair, who serve one-year terms. Barnes has served on the Board of Trustees for three years as a representative of Chatham County’s Board of Commissioners. He also chairs the Buildings & Grounds Committee for the Board of Trustees.
