Pittsboro, NC - Chatham Animal Rescue and Education. relies on the community to support its mission. For some animals it is critical that someone cares enough to take that first step by showing compassion and getting involved; Leo is just such an animal. A kind neighbor rescued Leo from a home where he had been abandoned and left in a crate for two days with no food and water. Lying in his own waste, Leo had done the
only thing he could to try and escape; he head butted the door of the crate in an attempt to free himself. Despite his barking, cries and obvious injuries he remained in the crate until saved by a kind and
caring neighbor. Once contacted about Leo, C.A.R.E. volunteers immediately got involved and sought out medical attention for this pup.

Here’s a plug for the new preschool/daycare in Pittsboro, just down from Al’s Diner on 87 South.  It’s Pasitos Felices, and it’s run by Adriana Espinosa, who got her chops from Mi Escuelita in Chapel Hill.  Spanish is spoken all day by the gentle, well-educated staff.

If you have boisterous boys, bring them so my two will have some competition in the boisterous boys department.

For more info, call 545-0176, or just go by.

Hearing Aid Company Banned from Chatham Senior Centers

The Chatham County Council on Aging has stopped a Beltone hearing aid franchise from using its two senior centers for hearing testing. “We learned that the franchise was using the centers as a place to sell their products,” said Angel Dennison, the council’s director.

She said that the Beltone franchise violated an agreement to limit their activity in the centers to free screenings for hearing problems for individuals referred to them by the Council’s wellness program.
