Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending my granddaughter’s 7th. birthday party.  It was held at Miss Priss Party Parlor.  What a great time they all had.

I had no idea there was such a great option for a child’s birthday!  They have all sorts of party themes and for all ages. This is a fairly new business that is operated by two very personable young women who had a great idea.

We have used Garage Door Services located in Pittsboro for garage door repair and replacement.  We have been so happy with their knowledge and customer service that we are purchasing our new garage doors for the house we are currently building from them and they will also be installing our new doors.

Subject: Both really good deals, but not in Chatham County.

I did go out of the county, reluctantly, and I did find the car I was looking for.  I found it on the Internet at Leith VW in Cary.  The salesman was Garry, I highly recommend him.  Too bad the Manager at PBO didn’t find it for me like he said he would.  Not only did I buy the Sebring Convertible but I bought a BMW 325i also.

Both really good deals, but not in Chatham County.

Subject: on the positive side of Pittsboro Chev.

I think that it is fair to give equal time to the positive experiences that we have had with our local business’. Personally, I had a great experience with Pittsboro Chevrolet.

I primarily dealt with James (can’t remember his last name right now). I too hate the whole sales pressure thing and I hate  buying used cars. I have been taken once before, so once bitten twice shy .  I have to say that I never once felt “badgered” or not given prices of vehicles.

I was referred to both by friends who spoke highly of them. Roxanne also uses European Biological Medicine in her practice, which has benefited me greatly. She does not accept insurance. Mindy has massage therapists to offer to her clients, of which I am one.  She does accept insurance. Both are no pressure on the amount of times you need to come, which is something that burned on chiropractors for a couple years. They believe you come as often as you feel you need!

There are many scattered around – the two I have dealt with are:

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to see Chris and Wanda Braxton (and son John Paul) but they are in Silk Hope on Lindley Mill Rd. (Braxton’s saw mill) – he started out as a quite small operation but is huge by comparison today – so I do not know whether he’ll take a small (?) order for lumber.  I bought lumber and sawdust/shavings from him years ago for my horse farm!  The whole family are very pleasant folks – Chris’ dad, John, is a renowned gunsmith, and grandpa was the “farmer” while living….

Sadly, my computer crashed and I lost my whole address book. If you are a friend or someone who has ever contacted me about my  yoga classes, I hope that you will write to me so that I can re-establish contact with you and get you in my address book again!

What have I learned from this miserable experience? Back it up!

And for the woman asking about a chiropractor……both Roxanne Hollander and Elizabeth Freedman have offices in Pittsboro and are both true healers.

As many of you know I am running for the Chatham County School Board – District 2. This is the seat that is held by Holly Duncan. She is not running again.

As a school board member I would concentrate on hiring and retaining good teachers, building new schools to relieve overcrowding while planning for future schools, improving our children’s reading skills and test scores and improving school communications.
