I don’t like high vet fees and my dogs do fine

Subject: re Veterinary medicine vs. Human medicine

I don’t like high vet fees and my dogs do fine without lab tests, Xrays, MRI’s, high-end surgeries, etc.

Perhaps I am shortening their lives by six months, but I doubt it. I think that most people (including me) keep their pets alive beyond the point at which they have a good quality of life.  I favor euthanasia for both dogs and people.

A new book by a UNC MD suggests that annual exams for humans are not useful; why should they be useful for dogs or cats?

Frequency of veterinary vs. human physical exams

My take on the frequency of veterinary vs. human physical exams;  I pretty much know when my body is acting out of sorts, or hurts, and I have a voice to tell someone about it.

It is my understanding that animals can have/often have high thresholds for pain/discomfort (unlike thresholds for humans), AND, I have not had one pet call me at work or tell me upon my arrival at home how and when they are feeling under the weather.  When I have “missed a beat”, and their behavior is in fact “speaking” the truth, they are pretty sick.

You need to complain to management

In response to the chatlist about CHT:

You need to complain to management that is what they are there for. If you don’t, a lot of time the employees are not going to get themselves in trouble by telling their manager. One call to the manager is all it takes. I have never gone there and don’t plan to from all of the bad stuff I have heard but I think that everyone needs to put in their complaints to him.

Sally,

I understand what you are saying but the site says “endow the new ne schools with lacrosse”.
That doesn’t say inclusive to me.  I don’t read where it says it’s open to everyone.
I would certainly have the opinion, just from it’s name that it’s for those in and of that area and who plan to attend the new ne schools.

Women’s Lacrosse

My niece is a Southern girl, raised in Raleigh, and plays Lacrosse for Broughton High School.  She is by no means a star on the team, but she absolutely loves it.  I mean LOVES it.  She had never played growing up, but really took to it.

There are quite a few schools in Wake County that offer this sport for young women.  And even more offer it for young men in Wake and Durham counties.

Nelson Tire & Auto in Siler City does quality work

I cannot comment on Chapel Hill Tire since I have never used their services but I can tell you that Nelson Tire & Auto in Siler City does quality work.

I should know, as I am a commuter from Greensboro and have been for over a year and they have taken care of my car needs with accuracy, courteousness and friendly mail reminders.  I needed some work done on my vehicle and received a quote in Greensboro for approximately $1200.  I came to work and upon the advice of a co-worker, took my car to Nelson’s.

I think it’s great to start a Lacrosse league

Again, I know the game.  I know it’s history. I think it’s a great sport, when it is inclusive.

I think it’s great to start a Lacrosse league.  It’s how soccer got started in Chatham.
But to only include the TWO NEW NORTHEAST schools in it’s efforts is wrong. Period.

If it’s a “location” thing, then aren’t Northwood and Horton considered part of the Northeast anymore?

Bad Buying Experience at Pittsboro Chevrolet

I totally agree with Ned Gaudette’s comments regarding price gouging at Pittsboro Chevrolet.

Subject: Pittsboro Chevrolet

We recently purchased a used base model hybrid with 30,000+ miles from Pittsboro Chevrolet. We tried negotiating a better selling price but they would not come down, stating they had a lot in the vehicle and that their pricing is based on current market demand. My post sale research indicates that Pittsboro Chevrolet charged us more than $3,000 over what the vehicle sold for new, and $5,000 over the current Kelley Blue Book Value. (Unfortunate for us that we did not have this research information at the time of sale).
