Chatham Chatlisters,
A group of interested citizens, calling ourselves The Grand Trees of Chatham, is organizing a tree recognition program for Chatham County. We will be having an organizational meeting Wednesday July 30 at 7 p.m. in the Agriculture Building auditorium in Pittsboro.
We are about recognizing the most significant trees in the county and Chatham is a very large county. Most communities have some sort of tree recognition program for the special trees or groups of trees in their communities. Many towns in North Carolina are “Tree Cities USA” http://www.dfr.state.nc.us/urban/urban_treecityusa.htm Chatham does not have a Tree City.
