I had a wonderful experience, LOCALLY, and I want to share!:
I have had to get ready to haul the last of my stuff out of storage. I was lucky enough to have a loaner truck. Catch was that I had to get a new trailer hitch for it. My husband had to work every minute before we left for the weekend, so that he COULD leave, and another fabulous friend went and got me the hitch itself. But I had to get wire harness on one trip, and a tow ball on the other trip.

And we’ve always said the new high school in the NE would be, (thanks to the location the former BOE/Superintendent chose) 90% white. So I guess Howards post shows how this program would fit perfectly there. One of the best players I’ve ever see was African Amercian, played for UVA (I think), his name was Christmas. No one could catch him. So, if you keep Lacrosse at the predominantly white schools (it flourishes in the private, prep school community) I guess you can keep it being the “white boys football”.

To my knowledge there is no place locally where you can have your dog, for example, seen by a veterinarian and get a complete exam, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, heartworm test, fecal exam at a total cost of $85.00.
I did not mean to imply that $85 for the above is unreasonable and I certainly don’t have any criticism against her for offering this. I am sure that she is well intentioned. As another vet told me, rabies vaccine is required by law and that is why he offers it without a physical exam.

Over the years I have bought 10 vehicles. By far the worst car buying experience of my life was at Pittsboro Chevrolet. Every time I see one of the commercials with the badger in his little plaid coat I think that could have been filmed at Pittsboro Chevrolet. In my case I made all the classic mistakes. I went in on a rainy Friday evening. I took delivery of a used vehicle that evening without checking it out with my mechanic or on line. My fault, NEVER TRUST ANY CAR DEALER.

I wanted to comment on the posts regarding bringing Lacrosse to Chatham county. UNC Chapel Hill always has a very good college level program and seeing the games at Fetzer Field in CH is a treat. I played high school football and never saw Lacrosse until I met players in my Freshman dorm at the U of Delaware.

I doubt we will see lacrosse at the other Chatham schools in the near future, but it is eventually coming to many new places.
Most Guilford and Orange County schools play at the youth, middle school, JV,and Varsity levels. Smith High and Dudley do not play and they are predominately African-American. They are focused on hoops and football there. Quite a few African-American and Latino kids are starting to play at the county schools in Guilford and Wake.

Meg,
My two boys and I were out for the week long camp last week and we live in the Silk Hope area. We plan on going back for the “fall season” as well. As far as I know they will take all comers. I’ve been involved with youth lacrosse in the past and it always starts in one area and then spreads throughout the surrounding communities.

Pet owners should really think twice before deciding they can save money by giving their own vaccines. If you purchase your own vaccines at a store, you have no idea whether that vaccine has been stored properly.
