Crepe Myrtle Pruning

July 19th, 2008 · No Comments

From: Kristin Elsenbeck
Subject: Crepe Myrtle Pruning

Most Crepe Myrtles will naturally sucker at the bottom, so pruning is required to tree-form them.  For best results, wait until winter time when the bush is dormant to do any major pruning.  Pick 3-4 of the strongest-looking shoots to train up as your trunks.  Cut out all of the other shoots.  In the spring, the plant will try to put out new shoots from the ground, but keep these pruned out so that the energy will go into the trunk shoots you’re nurturing. As the shoots get taller, you can begin to prune them at the bottom to start limbing it up.

Subject: rare reply from Chapel Hill Tire

My name is Steve Taylor and I’m the manager of Chapel Hill Tire Car Care Center at Cole Park Plaza.  I monitor these posts daily and also feel that there is quite a bit of useful information shared across this community by this chatlist and think personally that Gene does a great job.  I would also like to think that the majority of stories spread on here are impartial and are spread for public benefit.  However, there is a disclaimer on the bottom of the chatlist because Gene in his wisdom knows that not all information on here is accurate, or impartial. “The contents of the digest do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Chatham Online, the Chatham Journal, or Gene Galin. Subject: Tire Installer

In response to Debbie needing a good tire installer. Let me recommend our dealership “Pittsboro Ford.” We sell a full line of tires for every make and model. Our technicians are ASE master certified and do quality work. We offer great pricing and encourage you to give us a try. Lots of people think that since the only “new” vehicles we sell are Fords we can only work on Fords but that’s not the case. We can service any make and model and perform warranty work on any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles.

Subject: Chatham Market wine tasting

Had a great experience at Chatham Marketplace last night and thought that others might like to know about it.

I was vaguely aware that they held wine tastings there, but never  thought much about it. It was great! Four wines were presented by the wine seller and paired with food made by Dave, the chef at the Marketplace. Who knew !  White tablecloth,  beautifully presented tapas in which Dave goes all out in using local ingredients – many from neighbors that we know. Very cool.

I’ve been a customer of CH Tire for over 30 years.  Dealt with Mr. Al Pons in CH before his two sons (Mark & Brett) took over after his untimely death.  Al used to loan me his black Mercedes while my car was in the shop – that was some type of “loaner”!
