Subject: Chapel Hill Tire band wagon…
I too stopped going to Chapel Hill Tire several years ago.
I had plans to travel to Florida, then on to Colorado by myself with 2 small children (ages 4 and 6), a dog, and 2 cats and wanted to make sure my vehicle was in tip-top shape. I took it to Chapel Hill Tire for a “trip check” and requested that they thoroughly check EVERYTHING, including all pads, fluids, hoses, etc.
I also paid them for a tune-up, an oil change, and the patching of a tire that had a slow leak.

Subject: Original post on Chatham Park and Ride was correct
It is an understandable misinterpretation of the situation printed in thelast post of the July 15th Chatlist, but the changing of the bus operations from Southern Coach to Chapel Hill Transit did not open up the Chatham park & ride for public parking. Public can catch the bus route, but not park in the lot.

Subject: Congratulations to Lyle Estill on his doctorate degree
Sarah -
I was surprised, but happy to see in the Fearrington event post by you that apparently Dr. Lyle Estill has
earned a doctorate.
I’m sorry many of us missed this blessed event.
Would you (or anyone else) know when and where did Lyle earn his doctoral degree? And in what field?
I am sure his family and friends are so proud of him. I know that it took a lot of hard work, lots of time and effort. Some have likened getting a doctorate to a cross-country marathon.

Target will allocate a percentage of all your credit card sales to our Chatham county schools. One only needs to go online or call 1-800-316-6142 to link their credit card purchases to the “take charge of education’” plan and denote a school. It cost the card holder nothing.
Harris Teeter will also allocate a percentage of their “store brand products ” to the school of your choice. One only needs to link their cards to the school of their choice at the beginning of each school year. It cost the card holder nothing.

Subject: Chapel Hill Tire
I have had a completely different experience at Chapel Hill Tire. I used them in the 1980s and 90s and have returned to them now that they have a location in Chatham.
One of my cars is a Jetta. Jetta owners know that Jettas have electrical issues. Mine is about 10 years old and has some electrical issues and an oxygen sensor issue. This has put the check engine light on fairly consistently for the last 5 years or so UNTIL I got the car to Chapel Hill Tire and they figured it out. Through no fault of theirs the oxygen sensor has failed twice since it was installed, and each time CH Tire has replaced it for free, volunteering that they would do so without me even asking.

thanks gene…an amazing response from the chatters…several direct e-mails and a ton of posts!
situation resolved, the manager of the tire store called me Monday morning explaining the credit for my alignment charge had been posted and indeed it was, so money back, all is well.
In defense of that store, I had a tire failure on my work van, a one ton american made full size truck, and they had me back on the road within hours at a reasonable price. No problems there, my car however is another matter, a european, front wheel drive, turbo charged, 30 mpg sports sedan.

I too had a bad experience at Chapel Hill Tire (“bait and switch” on the price and quality of new tires), so found another tire dealer who is great to deal with: Nelson Tire in Siler City. They are professional, pleasant and able to obtain almost any tire you want. I’ve used them a number of times over seven+ years and can recommend them without reservation.
