The Chatham County Council on Aging reports that an older adult in Chatham County received a phone call from a person claiming to represent Wachovia Bank in an effort to fraudulently obtain checking account information.

Subject: Food Pantry at Moncure United Methodist Church

I would like to remind everyone that the Moncure United Methodist Church offers a food pantry every 4th Saturday of the month, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon that is open to anyone in need.  We offer items such as canned foods, dry beans, oatmeal, pasta, etc. for those in the community who need food and cannot afford it.  The next date the food pantry will be open is Saturday, July 26th.  Please spread the word to those in need!

Subject: Park and Ride question

Is it true that the general public is not permitted to use the Park and Ride???? I thought it was available to anyone who wanted to use it? I was planning on working as a temp at UNC and was excited at the prospect of using the park and ride so I wouldn’t have to pay transportation or parking fees which would, in the long run, reduce my salary. If that’s not the case, I don’t know about working as a temp at UNC.

Northwood High school Athletic association will be holding a meeting at the?Carolina Brewery on July 15th, 7:00 pm. We will be discussing Fall Fundraising and discuss what we will be doing for the football jamboree. Community is welcome, coaches and anybody interested in the schools athletic association. There are a lot of positive changes going on at Northwood so come on out and support the athletes.
