Subject: local beef available
For those who don’t yet know, we have gone back into the beef business. We farm approximately 200 acres on Van Thomas Road, Pittsboro… off of Castle Rock Farm Rd at one end, and the Silk Hope-Lindley Mill Rd at the other end.
Our hay fields and grain crops are certified organic by the NC Crop Improvement Association. Our animals are pasture raised and then grain finished. We use as much of our own organic grain as possible, and obtain additional grain from our neighbors. Our products are USDA inspected, and are carried in some of our local restaurants. We also have a variety of produce available. You are always welcome to visit, just call ahead.

Subject: Senior Centers food pantries
Both Chatham County senior centers, in Pittsboro and Siler City, have food pantries, too. We make referrals to CORA and to the Western Chatham Food Pantry when appropriate, but we distribute canned and shelf stable food, frozen meals (cooked in our kitchen), fresh bread and produce donated by local grocery stores on a daily basis.
We also distribute products such as bath soap, toilet paper, adult diapers, and nutritional supplements. Donations are very much needed and are always appreciated.

Subject: Small town blues
Both the delight and the curse of living in this area is the narrow choices for products and services. The delight is in the personal touch that comes with the knowledge that the people who run those businesses with which we use for convenience and necessity really care about their customers and are not in it solely for the money. The people who run the shops and other businesses in PBO and outlying towns are, after all, here for the same reason. We all moved here or stayed here instead of the big towns with all the amenities and choices.

Subject: Cell coverage?

We have AT&T for our cell coverage and live in a “dead” zone off of Mann’s Chapel, I heard a rumor they may put a cell tower on top of the new water tower on Mann’s Chapel, anybody know if that’s true or if I can find out? Would hate to get new service but its the pits being so close to town and getting zero coverage in this texting day and age!
