Recently I had a strange encounter with a rather large angry woman at the local Subway. She came storming in, demanding that they make her sandwich over because it had mayonaise on it and she doesn’t eat
mayonnaise. (how is mayo spelled?). The staff assured her they would make her another sandwich with out the hated mayo but she kept on railing and grousing and generally giving it hard to the folks behind the counter.

I want to personally and publicly thank Council on Aging for all they have done for my husband’s uncle, Byron Jones. They have provided Meals On Wheels services along with case management. They have greeted and cheered him with frequent visits over the years. Without them, I don’t think he would have lived as many years as he did.

Subject: deer repellent
I haven’t tried this yet but am getting ready to use it tonight or tomorrow AM. It is a recipe for deer repellent a friend gave me and she swears it works. It is not that expensive to make:
Mix together well:
1/2 Cup milk
1 egg
1 TBL veg oil
1 TBL dish detergent
Add:
1 gal of water and put in garden sprayer and go to work.
It should last approx 3 months depending on rainfall.
For those interested in paddling in NC (and beyond!), and Chatham in particular, please consider participating in the 2008 Paddle Tourism Survey! See below a message from NC State Trails Program. And please pass along!
–
As you may know, the North Carolina State Trails Program is launching a research project designed to collect information from both resident and non-resident paddlers who enjoy the lakes, rivers and coastal areas of our state. This is a follow-up study on a survey conducted in 2006. We will use the results from this project to promote paddling, enhance paddling experiences, and increase awareness of paddle tourism throughout North Carolina.

Subject: Renegades win first place in the 9/10 Rec League Softball tournament
Congratulations to the Renegades team for winning the championship of the 9/10 Rec League Softball regular season and tournament. They beat the Explosion yesterday evening on the Bynum field 5-4 in a very competitive game. Congratulations to the Explosion for their great effort yesterday. One of the team members told me they had lost to the Renegades by 10 the first time they had played them during the regular season.
Get a couple of good Australian sheep dogs, or hounds, or any good outside dog. They will chase the deer away. Beside, they make good pets, and with a good dog house, can survive our mild winters well. I put a 60 watt bulb in my dog house, and they loved it. Cover the floor with cedar chips to help keep fleas away.
I trimmed mine back to the bone every year as they are trained to remain small and hedge like along the house. They flourish and grow all the time. It does not kill the trees. Sometimes city water line work effects city trees and cannot be helped. It is not the end of the world! […]

It is sort of ironic that some of these treehuggers are apparently ignorant about trees. Ya know, if you love them so much, how about pick up a book about them sometime and reading it? One that isn't just poetry. […]

'Municipalities' are the worst for seeking out the 'best' selection for their situation at hand. Too often it is low bid that 'wins'. Then taxpayers pay for 'Pete and repeat', I call it. […]
