Dan, thanks for your post on the Subway incident.

Though you may not know it, I was standing behind you in line through the entire ordeal, and I want to applaud the staff at Subway for their handling of the situation. The woman apparently had sent her child into the restaurant with her order. Instead of giving the order to the person behind the counter, the child “read” the order to her.

Subject: GOOD NEWS IF YOU HAVE CAR TROUBLE!

Our 12 year old car was diagnosed with a transmission problem that called for a ridiculously expensive replacement.  Rather than trashing it we asked for a 2nd opinion from DIAZ AUTOMOTIVES in Pittsboro.  Mr. Diaz found the problem to be a hole in the radiator.

Mr. Diaz fixed it.  Cleaned it up like new.  The cost was 1/8 of the original.

In addition to being an automotive genius he is also a friendly and caring guy.

Subject: Response to Linda Cooper concerning McDonald’s

Although this no doubt will make me one unpopular old lady, I agree with Linda Cooper – we do need the additional revenue that large chain stores generate.

If you oppose the chain stores, just don’t patronize them. There are those of us who do appreciate the chains, and use them. If there is equal pricing at chains and locally-owned businesses, I use the locals. I really think that they are more customer-oriented that chains, but small businesses cannot always carry everything you need.

Subject: McDonald’s and the strip mall

In response to Lauren Cooper’s post- well said. I know that not everyone appreciates having fast food in town (or even Golden Corral, etc), but I am glad to have some additional options and am glad that my revenue will stay in town a little more rather than giving it to Wake County.

Now – does anyone have any details about the strip mall and what may be coming with it?

Subject: How can you get fat at Hardees?

Fast-food pit of despair–sucking the money out of our town and making us all fat!

Been my experience that a body could starve to death waiting on a meal at Hardee’s.  McDonald’s will be hiring out of the same talent pool. Will be interesting to see if they can get different results, or what Hardee’s will do with competition for that slice of the market.  (I’ll still be eating at S&Ts either way.  Haven’t made it to the new Scoreboard yet.)
