CAP is really Carolina Auto Parts?

I live in Chatham County and use the UNC Commuter Alternative Program (CAP). Earlier this spring a bunch of cars had their catalytic converters stolen at the Chatham Park & Ride lot.  My truck’s catalytic converter was almost completely cut off when someone apparently interrupted the thief and he fled.

My mother in law has helped to support her family for decades now selling flowers and vegetables at the area farmers markets.  Her mother was one of the original vendors at the “old” Carrboro market.

My daughter helps as the fourth generation selling on Sats. with her Aunt and Grandma.

But that may be the end of the line.

Unanticipated cell phone roaming charges

Subject: Cell phone roaming charges

Hi, I need some help with dealing with Alltel. I recently attended J C Campbell Folk School, in Brasstown NC. At the first student meeting, someone on the school staff said something like this, ” Cell phone reception at the school is spotty. You may not be able to get normal reception, but if you go out side, that might help.” So, I tried my phone and was pleased that the reception was fine. Now, my contract with Alltel states that calls made inside of NC are not considered roaming.

Subject: ticks-Sevin dust- dead honey bees

Pesticides are intended to control pests. They can also kill indiscriminately. This is extremely true of Sevin dust. Sevin dust is highly toxic to honey bees. Sevin dust is one of the most toxic insecticides to the honey bee. Sevin does not kill on contact. The bees come in contact with the Sevin dust and return to the hive exposing the hive to the toxins.

McDonald’s Coming To Pittsboro

Lauren:

You are locking the barn doors after that horse has already been stolen.  It’s already a done deal – nothing you can do about it except refuse to buy anything from McDonalds and encourage your friends to do so.

And, in your opinion I’m sure:  horror of horrors, there will also be a Taco Bell / Kentucky Fried Chicken combo at the same intersection.  Before you go getting all upset – that’s a done deal too.

Response to “Those pesky ticks”

Snowflake,

Thanks for the tick tip of duck tape around the ankles.  I’m going to give it a try.  As many of us do around here, I live in the woods, aka “tick central”.  What I have found that works for me as a repellent is the Repel lemon/eucalyptus formula repellent.  It is more natural then most and it really works great.  The bottle says it works for up to 6 hours.  I find I have to respray after 2 hours.

Ok, has anyone else noticed that we are getting a MCDONALD’S beside the  Lowes on 15-501? I don’t want a McDonald’s in Pittsboro.

If you don’t like it, don’t go there.

I don’t live in Chapel Hill

Subject: I don’t live in Chapel Hill

Mark,

I would gladly change addresses and be from Bear Creek OR Hickory Grove. I’m 10 miles inside Chatham County and I have to have a Chapel Hill address. When I travel and I have to write Chapel Hill on the hotel registration, I cringe.

I don’t live in Chapel Hill and I don’t want to.

When asked where I live, I always reply Chatham Co.

Chatham’s Vote

Subject: Chatham’s Vote

While as an active citizen, I am thrilled to see the energy generated by the Presidential election, I am dismayed that less than half of Chatham’s registered voters participated in the May Primary held on May 6, 2008.

Some would insist that I am being pessimistic by seeing the glass as half empty rather than half-full.  After all, 47% of  Chatham’s registered voting population, approximately 18, 616 people participated.  According to 2006 statistics, that constitutes approximately10% more voters than the total number of people who usually participate in  Primaries.

Hi all.  I am sure some of you might know where to point me.  I am currently in the process of doing this for one of my kiddos.  So far, the school has been little help in actually helping me navigate and understand the process.
