I hate to solve a problem too quickly in this forum, because I enjoy watching the process unfold slowly over a few weeks.
However I cannot resist it any longer.
Are squirrels a problem with your bird feeder?
If so: Add 1tsp of cayenne pepper to each l pound of bird see and mix thoroughly. Sometimes more pepper brings out more birds.
Whist I’m here.
I’m looking for a JOB in Pittsboro.

A. It was/is a bad idea, and B. people are fed up with the Left always wanting to tax them as their solution to problems. You may debate A. but not B.”

Subject: Candelori “facts”
Usually Steve Candelori’s rants aren’t worth responding to, in this case he asserted two facts in paragraph that need following up on. He wrote (about the LTT):
What bothered me about it was, once voted in, the actual rate could be raised without going back to the voters.
This is incorrect. The maximum tax rate of 0.4% was set by the legislature and could not be raised by commissioners
He also wrote:
Also, the pro-tax crowd in this county, largely, don’t own land and have not plans to buy any.

Hello Jason,
Yes, much was said about the LTT when it was an issue, I’m sorry if you missed most of it. I’m sure an archive search will put you on it, I urge you to check it out.

Subject: complaining about taxes?
“I have owned a house in Chatham County for 25 years and am preparing to sell it. I voted against the LTT because I didn’t want to be gouged by the lefties. I am paying enough in property taxes now.”
Well, you’d better hurry up and sell your house because one, if not both, of the following is going to happen:
(1) your property taxes will go up, BECAUSE the LTT was voted down, and the county still needs money for all that infrastructure

Scott Mason from WRAL’s Tar Heel Traveler did a story on Our Neighborhood School. I thought he did a great job telling my little story and Efrain looked great too!
A big thank you to everyone who has helped our little enterprise over the past year. We were 1 year old this month and couldn’t have done it without you.

Hello Chathamites,
Just want to say “DITTO” to the lady who wrote about Ikey Straughn, who was the bright light, of the collection site behind Food Lion. You would never have known what a kind and generous man he was, if you had not taken the time to say hello.
He never met a stranger and when you can say that about a person, you know he is the “real deal” of a man. Yes he was kind and gracious, funny and a barrel of laughs when he told his jokes. But he was most of all a good Christian husband and family man.

….if we aren’t going to eat them?
Hi Ahnie Rising…..perhaps you could try mounting a board, etc. above your feeder, large enough so that the squirrels aren’t able to reach the food without stepping on the shutoff?
It appears we’re having pretty good luck with a modification to our tube feeder. I removed all the perches, base and anything the squirrels can sit on. Then I put some plastic wire ties through the former perch holes, which are below the feeder openings.
