Subject: Endorsing Jeffrey Starkweather for County Commissioner

Chatham County needs commissioners who appreciate the cultural uniqueness  of Chatham County.

Chatham’s strong and growing creative community and its  natural beauty are just two of the reasons Jim and I are proud to call  Chatham County our home. We have known Jeffrey Starkweather for several years  now and we know how much he cares, his keen understanding of the challenges of  growth, his enthusiasm for finding solutions and his support of the arts.

From: Donna Bianco
Subject: It’s our Anniversary!

Hello Everyone,

Another month has gone by and believe it or not we are celebrating our one year anniversary this month! I can’t believe it has been a full year.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL
The school year is winding down. The kids are working on the Haw River Mural across the street from the General Store. They have been working so hard on their renditions of local wildlife. Pretty soon you will see the turtles, eagles, caterpillars and lizards that the kids at ONS drew, come to life and be forever (at least for a few years) captured in downtown Pittsboro.

Why I support Sally Kost

May 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Date: Sat, 3 May 2008 08:14:20 -0400
From: Austin Lybrand
Subject: Why I support Sally Kost

As a taxpayer, I want a county commissioner experienced in creating lean county budgets based on careful priorities and long-range forecasting. Sally Kost has that experience.

As a citizen, I want a county commissioner who understands — really understands! — that the well-being of our community and the fiscal health of county government require balanced and sustainable growth. Sally Kost’s career in county budgeting and her exemplary service as chair of our planning board have given her that understanding.

I urge all to vote for Jeffrey Starkweather

From: karen sheaffer
Subject: Jeffrey Starkweather

I am writing to urge all chatlist readers to vote for Jeffrey Starkweather.  I can attest to his hard work ethic, innovative thinking, concern for the “little person” and knowledge of governmental issues, problems and procedures.

When he represented me as my attorney, his concern, expertise, and diligence helped sustain me through a very difficult time.  Not only is he a very competent attorney, but he is a supportive person and an excellent listener as well.  I cannot speak highly enough of him.

Rosemary House B&B

From: Nick Davidovich
Subject: Rosemary House B&B

I just want to let everyone know of the great help I received from this wonderful bed and breakfast.

For the past few days I have been refinishing the front door of the Rosemary House, and everyone who works there was a great help. To small things like offering me water, to larger things like hanging the door back up at the end of the day, they were always there; and I wasn’t even staying there. Top notch place.

From: Dee Reid
Subject: Tim Keim on Kost and Starkweather

Our email box is full of personal endorsements for Sally Kost and Jeffrey Starkweather. Here’s a recent example from Tim Keim, who works as a weekend announcer on WUNC public radio and as a cheese expert at Chatham Marketplace:

I know Jeffrey Starkweather personally. I’ve never seen anyone who lives and breathes his devotion to community the way he does. It is not merely a recent affectation, it’s his nature, his character to be a steady, consistent voice for sensible strategies that will lead to a green, progressive Chatham County.

I would not want my child on that school bus

May 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

From: jaye
Subject: bus driver

I would not want my child on that bus driver’s bus, even if it took an hour to get them to school. She sounds immature and irresponsible, not capable of providing a safe environment for children. You have a problem since the principal is not helping you…can you write to the board?

Your kids don’t feel safe and that is totally wrong.

Implementing Existing Plans

From: Larry Hicks
Subject: Promises Kept

Implementing Existing Plans

In 2004, Patrick Barnes promised to insist that the County implement its existing and already approved plans. We have added staff to the planning department, hired Chatham’s first erosion control officer (an award winning program), restructured the Planning Board, and passed key ordinance updates to lighting design and stream buffers. Ordinance development committees were established and new and improved policies for commercial development and other standards are almost complete. All interested parties have been invited to and included in this work. Chatham County is implementing the Land Conservation and Development Plan as promised.

Hair, Worms and Antonella

Subject: Hair, Worms and Antonella

wiggly wormsYes, it’s a curious title but it got your attention, right? What hair, worms and Antonella have in common is that I’m giving them a shout out – they’re a great part of our community.

I read a glowing recommendation about Dana Russell at Salon Blue so I made an appointment with her to cut my hair. She did a great job, very quickly (and I have a lot of hair) and had some good ideas for future maintenance. I like that Salon Blue is in town and conveniently located so close to my home. Since Dana also lives in town, the very reasonable amount of money I paid stays in Pittsboro and helps the local economy. Thanks Dana! Salon Blue 919-545-0107
