Subject: Internet access in the country

I am writing this because I found an internet access alternative this year with which I have been very pleased. I dial up through my mobile phone, and get much faster service than the pitifully slow land line dial-up.

Subject: Thank You
First of all, I want to wish everyone in Chatham and beyond a Happy New Year! At the end of December, I closed my business, Flynt’s Florist.
I want to thank all of the wonderful customers who supported the florist for the past 50 years. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and I felt that it was time to make a change in my life in order to spend more time with my family. So, along with my former employee of 10 years, Pennie Stewart,
I have started a home cleaning business. We are calling ourselves The Clean Team. We have worked so well together for so long that we didn’t want to part ways. If you need your home cleaned, please consider calling us. Dana Smoak 770-2394 or Pennie Stewart 774-3325. Thank you.

Along with the joy of the holidays comes lots of trash. Have y’all taken a look at our local “convenience centers’ recently? They’re very busy handling all our waste!
Here in Chatham County, county government manages about 1/3 of the solid waste generated in Chatham County. The other two-thirds are handled by the towns of Pittsboro, Goldston and Siler City and by private haulers who offer commercial and residential services.

Subject: Skywatching on the Bynum Bridge
Hi folks,
On Thursday, January 3, several members of the Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS) will bring their equipment and expertise on all things celestial to the Bynum pedestrian bridge from 7 to 9pm.
Some of the objects we hope to view are the Andromeda Galaxy and the Orion Nubula. Maybe comet Holmes will still be cooking, so bring your binoculars!
Winter constellations are quite bright and should put on a good show: Orion, Geminii, Andromeda, Taurus, Auriga.

Subject: phone books
Is it me, or are we being inundated with phone books left at our mailboxes?
I have received 4 in the last several weeks and many people tend to “forget” to pick theirs up and they turn into trash alongside the road. I now have approximately 10 phone books (and this is after I have taken many to the recycle) and I never use any of them…I always check the internet for phone numbers. I know many of them are different (Chapel Hill, Triangle, Chatham County, etc.) but rather than wasting all these trees, is there a way for those people who use the books to request them be sent only to them?
