Subject: Concerns and Clarifications
Let me begin by saying-this is not a “For” or “Against” post. I just have a couple of concerns / clarifications I felt needed to be brought to the attention of the chatlist.

Subject: Laptops a waste of money?
Any parents out there actually ask their high school kids what they use the MILLIONS of dollars worth of computers purschased a few years back for. Is it for anything they couldn’t use a book or hand out for? Is it worth the time it takes to get the computers out, log on…wait, because they are slow-so- slow? What is that altogether? Fifteen minutes of wasted instructional time. So in order to make it worthwhile you have to use them for at least 30 minutes, or what’s the point?
Get a book out. I think most students find them slow and small and not worth the bother.

Subject: The Wicked Web We Weave
First to Gene, Thank you for making this thought and discussion venue possible. You do a pretty good job of monitoring the comments, especially considering your real job. Subject: Piggly Wiggly store does nothing to enhance Pittsboro
I am so thankful for the Chatham Marketplace. Piggly Wiggly does nothing to enhance the town aesthetically wise with a face of a giant pig on a giant white sign sticking out like a sore thumb at the shopping center. The 2 shopping centers where Food Lion is and PW are dirty and not attractive.
There are crowds of people always hanging out in front of the Dollar Store in the PW Shopping center that has become a local hangout.
