Can anyone recommend a reputable tree service in the Pittsboro/Siler City area? We have a number of beautiful, old oak trees that need deep root feeding and some judicial pruning.

I've been feeding a black and white stray but s/he seems to have once been a family pet ... very skittish but not so much so that I think s/he is feral. If you are missing a beautiful black cat with a white chest and white paws, let me know.
Also, does anyone know where I can get free neutering for this cat should it not already have had that done? I did find a contact for a trap but need to know where to take it once that's done ... Thanks.

Voters in Hickory Mountain Township twice voted down Chatham Water at the polls. Now, I see there are new water lines on Alex Cocerman Rd and hyway 64 - 6-8 miles west. A large water storage tank tower is being built just off Alex Cocerman road. Is this not all being done in a Township that rejected it?
Summer of 2007, a survey crew worked on hyway 64 west, alongside my property, marking the location of new future water lines (so they told me)- I live in Hickory Mt. Township. Could someone explain this to me? Why is it here, apparently we are paying for it and it was voted down by residents of Hickory Mt. Township?
-------------------- 5 -------------------- Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2008 12:45:22 -0500 (GMT-05:00) From: Linda Lang lindalang-at-mindspring.com Subject: volunteering
Where do I like volunteering most? That's an easy one: the Chatham Habitat for Humanity's Home Store! and Why? That too is easy: Because it is a way to be part of an international network that strives to enable all families to have safe and affordable homes, and a community they can not only benefit from but also contribute to.
But, on a more personal note and chathamcentric note, I get as much back from volunteering in the stores as I give. I see and get to know so many local people, and it helps me feel a part of this wonderful, interesting, fun and caring community. And the staff of Habitat are truly committed to and caring about their work...... you can see it in their eyes and feel it in everything they do. So, when I am volunteering, it is like being part of a family of volunteers and shoppers and donors and staff. We know each other by name and share more of ourselves than just our time. We laugh together and find joy in the smallest of things (like getting a donated toy working again), and we also are there for each other when the going is hard. Relationships started at Habitat extend far into the community, everyday.
And every time another donation arrives or another sale is made, I hear a tiny hammer in the back of my head, nailing another board into place so that another of our Chatham families can have a safe place to live and a community to be a part of. It just can't get any better than that!

I was recently recounting the the little bit of history that I know about the property on Castle Rock Farm Rd where I live, and wondered if anyone knew more about it?
I live in the house built by Luther Broaddus Jr., on the land that once was part of Castle Rock Dairy, which belonged to his father Luther Broaddus Sr. Many years ago, I met several of the Broaddus clan at the funeral service for either their mother or father, and heard a few interesting stories about the history of this property.
Can anyone tell me more about: the general store (or gathering place perhaps?) that used to be on this site? the homemade airplane and the guy who flew it? the little cabin at the back of the property where the guy lived that was an editor of the Southern Agricultural Digest (I think)? did Castle Rock Farm Rd (aka Big Meadow - Castle Rock Rd when I moved here) used to follow a different path? was there ever a road connecting through to East Perry Road?
Thanks, Charles Jones

So Chatham County has to be the only county with the most talented artiest in all of North Carolina. Some of you are trying to get your name out there and some of you are so popular that you can't keep up. How would you like to show off your art and be doing a great cause at the same time? Or what about all of the great restaurants, specialty stores, grocery stores, and everyone else out there that owns or runs a store, you could also be showing off your company and be helping a great cause. Not only would you be getting a tax write off but you would be helping the Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services and Center of Chatham County.
So please donate to the upcoming event, "Transforming Our Community Charity Auction" on the 9th of March located at the Fearrington Barn. It's the Annual Art Auction with Chatham Arts of Chatham County Arts Council. So this would be a great time to donate something, show off your art, promote your business, advertise your restaurant, or just do something for those that need help the most. Please let me know if you have any questions and please donate as much or as little as you can, as long as you donate!
Thanks so much for your time,

Re: IonCleanse foot bath at Unity Books and Stuff in Pittsboro
In response to the question whether anyone has tried this, I must reply and say that I have been receiving these and found them well worthwhile, and rather fascinating. It is an easy and comfortable way to draw toxins out of your body through the feet while they rest in a warm foot bath. You will be amazed what comes out within a half-hour session! Ramona Kadrich, the practitioner, is very knowledgeable and well trained in this modality, warm and friendly to work with. She is also a treasury of information on many health subjects, always willing to discuss your questions and concerns. I do recommend you give it a try.

Haw River Christian Academy, Chatham County’s premier classical Christian school, is now accepting applications for staff and students for the 2008-09 school year. Applications may be downloaded from the school’s web site, www.HawRiverChristian.org.
Inspired by local parents seeking a Christian-based education for their children, Haw River Christian Academy (HRCA) will begin with kindergarten (half-day) through fourth grade, with plans to add one grade per year until serving K-12. The non-denominational school will be initially located at Rock Spring Baptist Church along Highway 15-501 North, between Pittsboro and Chapel Hill.
HRCA is being modeled after nationally recognized institutions, such as Logos School in Idaho and more locally, Cary Christian School.

Greetings from Chatham County Together! an agency that has been serving youth and families since 1989. We have a wonderful( and exceptional) group of volunteers that do everything from mentoring to helping us sell Lobsters at our annual Lobster Sale ( see website: www.chathamcountytogether.org). Our mission is: to encourage "at risk" youth ages 6-17 and young adults to become healthy, self -sufficient, and contributing members of society by:
• Fostering positive mentoring relationships
• Encouraging academic success
• Teaching valuable skills
• Offering family advocacy & support
one-on-one, in small group and/or family settings.
Last year we had the honor of having over 130 volunteers giving over 7,000 hours of their time! There are so many ways that someone can help. If you would like to mentor or tutor, we have youth all over the county who could benefit from as little as one hour a week. If you would like to volunteer in other ways, we have lots of ideas. Maybe you have an idea of your own. Volunteers are the heart and soul of this organization and we welcome your involvement. Please feel free to contact us about ways to get involved.
Sincerely,
Kim Caraganis, Director

Hi All, My Name is Nora. I am new to the Chatlist and relatively new to the area. My Husband, 6 month old daughter and I live in Bobcat Point. I am starting a Book Club called Continuum Group. It is an Oprah inspired book club, and the goal of the group is to bring people together for one evening a week to discuss in-progress readings in a friendly, open-minded way. This group is not meant to be a strict literature critique group. It is meant to be more of a relaxed, discussion and introspection group whereby members have a safe place to discuss views in relation to the readings, have a glass of wine, share munchies, or maybe even exchange a recipe or two. The Oprah Book Club list of selections will serve as reading guide, however if people want to read other selections the group as a whole can decide what to read. We are tentatively starting the group this Tuesday (Feb 12) at 7pm at my place. The current book selection is *A New Earth* by Eckart Tolle*.*Specifics on future meeting times and places can be decided as we go. If you are interested in being a part of Continuum Group email me at noyo72-at-gmail.com.
Have a Great Day! Nora Yolles-Young

Even after knowing Ramona for about a year, being a big believer in alternative health, and holding a career in the healing arts, I was a bit skeptical about the stories she told about the foot bath treatments. I mean, if they were truly all that they claim to be, *I* would certainly heard about them long ago. Quite frankly, I know stand corrected and can honestly say my loved one and I owe our renewed quality of life to the IonCleanse. Thanks to this amazing system, my partner Ian know finally knows what has been plaguing his health for the past 15 years. He has sought medical advice numerous times and undergone many treatments for misdiagnosed ailments, just to watch his health decline further. He is a active and young 27 year old who had experienced the digestive and respiratory issues of a 60 year old starting in middle school. Ramona's skilled reading of his IonCleanse foot bath gave him the necessary information to go back to the doctor to tell *them* the REAL diagnosis... Candida Albicans Overgrowth. (which, admittedly, is very hard to detect if you don't know to look for it) They performed the necessary tests and confirmed it! He is 8 weeks into his treatment now, which includes regular foot baths, and feels dramatically better. He no longer needs an inhaler!
I too received a foot bath, the determine if I had developed the same overgrowth, and thankfully I did not. I did, however, notice a big boost in my mental clarity the next day while I was taking a national licensing/certification exam for massage therapy.
Don't make the same mistake I did... make an appointment!
