Hi I am looking for anyone that has a monogram sewing machine and would like to make some extra money. I have a few things that I want to get monogrammed and just found out the Cotton Boll in Chapel Hill is closed. Does anyone have one or know of someone that does that would like to help me out? Thanks so much and have a great day.
Thanks again,

Does anyone know someone who can repair electric fence-5 strand. It's old and needs a tune up. Thanks, Karen

I am looking for a Reiki practitioner working in Pittsboro or Siler City that would have late afternoon appointments available. It has been wonderful knowing that there are so many health-minded folks in this area.
-------------------- 4 -------------------- Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 08:59:33 -0400 From: Dan Cahoon <uncledan...blast.com> Subject: Nice kitty
Sounds like a young tom to me. It can be hard to identify those young little ones. Also some cats and dogs just have a route of some kind that takes them to available food and water and shelter. It may be in that sort of pattern. I have had many such friends at businesses and schools that don't supply a "home" of sorts but tolerate their presence. It would be nice to spay or neuter the one you are involved with if possible. I think there is a clinic coming up (posted no doubt on the chatlist).
The topic of feral cats has come up and some have asked about helping them. Ferals of course won't let you pet them and can be quite vicious if caught. They also continue to breed and overpopulate the ecology. All outdoor cats are hunters. It is in their nature. I love cats and wish my dogs would let me have some, but I don't miss the dead birds and missing lizards. I do sort of miss the dead mouse prizes brought to me at the back door or on my pillow in the morning. Ask my wife about the 12 young rats chased and eventually caught at a home in downtown WS.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time and spends the money to take care of our pet problem. Those of you who spay or neuter your animals are helping a burgeoning overpopulation problem. Stray cats and dogs are changing the ecology of our world faster than any other factor. Entire species have been eliminated due to the presence of dogs and cats in sensitive ecological areas. Feral cats are living beings as well but should be removed from sensitive ecological areas. I don't know how. I know that many people give copious amounts of time and money to help neutralize the effects of cat and dog overpopulation. That includes giving them homes, love and medical care. We must be good stewards. Spay or neuter your pet today!

My kids have been going to yoga at a cool facility off of Mountain View Ch. rd. with Helen Kerns. They love it. My oldest gets a great stretch that helps with his mobility issues and my youngest even "stretches out" to get ready. The class currently going on is fairly full (I am just selfish about space) but there should be more to come.
I am no guru and only recently turned onto yoga by my flexible and lovely wife. I have found and now my boys have found that the opportunity for peace and inward reflection is terrific. They are learning how to deal with feelings and how to celebrate life.
As I was walking away from their class one Friday afternoon, I heard the yoga group making lots of great kid noise, probably as an ice breaker for the group. It sounded fun and reminded me of my theater experiences, how great it feels to shout out at the top of your lungs, or make joyful noises just to celebrate life. Everyone should do this.
Soul 2 Soul is a new facility that is available for all kinds of meetings, retreats and therapy. Check out the website www.soul2soulhealing.com or info...soul2soulhealing.com for more details. Judyne Quimby, owner, is a new neighbor of ours and is working hard to create a Moncure local and regionally significant meeting place for those in search of peace, healing, nature appreciation, soul sustenance.
Send her a message. Ask about having a Persieds Meteor party all night long at her place on Aug. 12th (they have an amazing big sky situation with minimal light pollution). Or just go visit with her adorable horses. Yoga, horses, peace? Who could ask for anything more?

Your last sentence in response to my e-mail: "I think the above quote also speaks volumes for the type of person Chatham Co. is now attracting."
seems to say it all at the type of person you are. For your information I have probably lived here way longer then you. Are you prejudiced about any new person who moves here from out of state? I welcome it. And also for your information I am retired and would never work in RTP. Why couldn't you have responded to my e-mail with intelligent feedback? Ace in Pittsboro

AFRICAN AMERICAN CAUCUS INSTALLS OFICERS
The African American Caucus of the Chatham County Democratic Party elected
new officers on Tuesday June 28, 2007 to begin planning for what they hope will be a
Democratic Presidential win in 2008. Chatham activist Margie Ellison and Chair of the
Chatham Board of Education, Norman Clarke, were unanimously elected President and
1st Vice President of the Caucus respectively.
The goal of the caucus, as the newest sanctioned auxiliary of the North Carolina
Democratic Party, is to foster the ideals and values of the state and national Democratic
Party through voter education forums and registration drives. Caucus president
Ellison views the African American Caucus as a means to unite the African American
community in Chatham around common issues.
Ellison stated, “Never before have we been faced with such a daunting task as
we face today: to inform the uninformed, to draw in those who feel left out, to make sure
power is shared with the powerless, and to speak truth to power for the sake of our
community and its future. We must insure the Democratic Party in Chatham is inclusive
and responsive to the needs of all its members. We want every African American
registered and voting Democrat in the 2008 election.” The next meeting of the African
American Caucus will take place on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, 7PM at Central Carolina
Community College (Pittsboro Campus), Building 1, Conference Room 1.

Nardella, Could be that this kitten is being fed by more than just you? Someone close by owns the cat, she lives outside and isn't given the best care? Believe me...Lots of folks out there don't get their cats sprayed-neutered and have litter upon litter and they allow the cats-kittens to run amok without any kind of care! If no obvious signs of testicles would assume she is a girl...but, could be a boy and neutered already? Anyone else with any ideas?? My opinion...next time she shows up...crate her if possible to get her spayed-neutered, tested for FIV-FELV and vaccinated if not knowing who-where her owners are by a local Rescue group or Vet. Thanks to everyone who corrected my reference to the County Commissioner regarding Pittsboro Place. It was my error! The onus lies with the Pittsboro Town Board. These positions are also elected, so they too should be listening to and acting for the good people in Pittsboro and not an eager developer. If I'm not mistaken again, the election for Mayor and Board is just around the corner and, hopefully, around that same corner is not a duplication of Cary or Apex.
As for the County Commissioners, even though they are not directly involved with this rezoning in question, their attention to the public outcry need be astute. This same public response will again present itself any time there is a proposal for such an inappropriate development within our county perimeters. Janis

Did anyone read the article in the last C.R. about the nutritional program being rolled out by our wonderful government schools? They are called "Fuel Up" and "Food Until Everything Looks Up". These programs send home food on Friday afternoon for hungry student to eat over the weekend. Packaged in "non-identifiable" backpacks so that the student doesn't get teased by other students. Before anyone accuses me of wanting children to starve, don't bother, you're wrong. My problem with this is: 1) There are other taxpayer programs to deal with this.(food stamps. WIC, etc., no teasing included) 2)Providing nutrition is not the job of government schools. If they want to get a positive nutritional message across then let it start in the lunchroom, quit serving greasy pizza once a week. 3) This kind of thing distracts from their main purpose: educating, which seems to be a low priority. It's also a pathetic attempt to make our sub-par schools seem to be a significant institution. What will the school system want to provide next? Clothes, shoes, hygiene supplies, cable TV, money to pay for utilities, bling? And to think that they can disguise these back-packs from the other students to protect the recipients from ridicule? Hog wash! They underestimate these children and their ability to notice things. It's their job to know children... talk about being out of touch! Geeze, gimme a break. Maybe some of these hungry children should be shamed into saying "Mom, can we get some food in this house instead of you getting a tattoo on your neck of a pit bull?" According to the article half of the students attending government schools in this county qualify for free or reduced lunch. Administrators could not be happier. I find that number to be skewed. When my son attended North Chatham we were encourage to get him in a free or reduced program when, clearly, he wasn't in need. After I refused the help repeatedly, he was included anyway. When our school system is in a struggle to provide a basic education, it finds it necessary to use up scarce resources doing a job it has no business doing. This program is a farce with the intention to make them appear to care while using the image of a hungry child as their prostitute. Shame on you people. You just want to grub every last dime out of the taxpayer and play on our emotions to guilt us out of our earnings. There was, by the way, no mention in the article about a better education offered.

Did anyone catch the short debate between Chris Sinclair and our own Commish Mike Cross on NBC this past Sunday morning regarding the LTT in Chatham county? Outside of the fact that Cross was not convincing with his position and Chris Sinclair ate his lunch, there is a stash of tax monies squirreled away that we need to know more about. Cross was reluctant to give much info and bailed out due to the restraints of time. We missed him having to sweat bullets on air. Anyway, that inspired me to go to www.itsabadidea.org to sign the new petition opposing the LTT. Cross opened his position on the debate by stating that 60% of Chathamites go out of county to work and spend their money as if to suggest that that is OK thus the need to tax the equity of homeownership. That is, to me, arrogant and the problem with politicians that never met a tax they didn't like. Sinclair made several good points and was only afforded enough time to bring his position to full song. Can we get these guys together again to finish things? Whatya' say, Mr. Cross, I know this will find it's way to your desk... are you willing to finish the debate?

I for one am not either for or against it but I know I do not and I repeat do not want more industry. Who wants to look at industrial buildings that don't benefit everyone as a whole. I don't. I rather see a cheery shopping center. I would rather take my family to a nice dinner and go shopping. Everybody is sounding like Chicken Little with the sky falling. I do not want to spend my money in Cary or Apex any more. I don't think the business community in downtown Pittsboro should worry because their shops are unique and we would still shop there. At this point in my life I am tired of always driving out of town. I want it in town. Let them build industry somewhere else. Look at Research Triangle Park now isn't that a industrial traffic nightmare. This is just my opinion and how I feel and I have lived here a very long time. Ace

Hi Ace, Have you been to visit Piedmont Biofuels?
It definitely does not conform to the stereotype of the drab industrial park. In fact, it's a warm, inviting, colorful place using innovative construction techniques, with a lot of growing plants, sculpture & other art, and a soccer field.
It's a new paradigm for what an industrial facility can be, and we're lucky to have it.
You should really go take a look.
Best,
Chris
