I am intently looking for an studio space in Chatham County for a massage therapy practice. I am a Nationally Certified and NC Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and a graduate of the Body Therapy Institute in Silk Hope. Honoring body, mind and spirit, I practice an intuitive and integrative style of massage therapy, incorporating Swedish, Myofascial, Aromatherapy, Hot Stones and wellness education. I am ever mindful of each client's innate healing capabilities and ready to assist in tapping these inner resources to achieve relaxation, personal growth and pain management. The space I seek will be unique, bright and full of creative energy. An unused artist studio or guest house on a farm would be ideal. If you have or know of such a space please contact me. -------------------- 12 -------------------- Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2007 18:51:04 -0400 From: "Jan Hutton" Subject: Special Dog
Hello! My name is Socks (I'm a dog) and I am looking for a special home.
Only two months ago, I was completely paralyzed in my hind legs. Thanks to lots of hard work from both my friends at Cole Park Veterinary Hospital and specialists at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, I am walking again! I am still quite clumsy, and wear protective boots on my feet but my progress has been amazing!! I will likely always need a bit of special care and would continue to benefit from physical therapy (which Cole Park can teach my owner). I will have another surgery in a few months to remove electrodes that were implanted to help repair my spinal cord (done at no charge). I would do best in a house without lots of stairs and prefer carpeted floors. I love to run and play & get along with everyone I meet (dogs, cats, and people). I’m able to go on moderate walks, and don’t know whether I will ever be able to hike long distances.
I am a one year old male boxer mix. I am neutered and current on my shots. I am a little underweight right now, but am getting stronger all the time. I am getting better every day, and there is hope I will continue to improve over the next 6 months!
If you are able to provide such a special home for me, please ask! We will schedule a time to meet with me & can provide you with an application and information regarding my possible adoption. Please call Cole Park Veterinary Hospital, 929-3352, and ask for Drs. Harris or Pagel, Ducka Kelly or Arvadia Mason.
Many thanks.

-------------------- 20 -------------------- Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 17:15:19 -0400 From: "Monica Howell" Subject: the bead hive is having a huge SHOW/SALE!!! the 31st and 1st!!!!!
This Saturday and Sunday, March 31st and April 1st, the bead hive is having a trunk show sale!!!
Come down to the bead hive between 10 am and 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. This is a show you should be sure not to miss, there are all types of beads to choose from, including some killer Semi-precious Stones.
Here's the deal pickle. Everything in the existing store will be 10% off, with the exception of local artist's work and purple star glass beads. But everything else in the existing store will be fair game to the 10% off!
The trunk show beads will be layed out on tables in the hallways. There are two 6 foot tables where every strand on the table is only $3.00. Yep, you got it, I said three bucks! These two tables include strands of the following: crystals, glass, vintage inspired glass, glass briolettes, fresh water pearls, semi-precious and bone. Regular retail prices on these beads range from $5.00 to $26.00 per strand, this is your chance to get wholesale prices on some spectacular beads. So, you want an even better price than $3.00 per strand? Well ok, if you buy 50 or more strands the price goes down to $2.75 per strand.
The rest of the show will be broken down by percentage off depending on how many strands you purchase. All strands will reflect their regular retail price, the more you buy the better your percentage off will be. If you buy 5 strands your discount will be 5%, if you buy 10 strands your discount will be 10%, if you buy 15 strands your discount will be 15% all the way up to 50 strands for 50% off. (This doesn't include the $3.00 strand table, which is already discounted to wholesale closeout prices.)
If you make jewelry or know someone who does, please spread the word that I have the goods, so don't miss out! I have these beads for a limited time (10 days) whatever doesn't sell will have to be boxed up and shipped back to the distributor. So don't miss this one time event!
Oh, I almost forgot, with every purchase you have a chance to enter for a $20.00 gift certificate to the bead hive (limit one per customer, for duration of sale.) the drawing will be at the close of the sale on Sunday and winner will be notified via email and/or phone.
So, come to the bead hive and explore the possibilities of extreme beading! Bring the whole family, the next door neighbor and your cousin Jimmy!!!
Hope to see you soon,
Monica Howell owner/artist the bead hive 45 West Street Suite 115 Pittsboro, NC 27312 919.545.9966 thebeadhive...gmail.com www.thebeadhiveonline.com

-------------------- 23 -------------------- Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 19:06:57 -0400 From: "Larry Crum" Subject: Friday Classified: Plant sale in Bynum this Saturday
With all the hot weather lately, I have been pulling plants from the greenhouse, repotting, and dividing. As a result, I have a lot of plants that I would like to let others nurture and enjoy. I have perennials and annuals, and a lot of tropicals. Selection includes herbs, fruit (pineapple, banana, citrus), ferns, palms, succulents, cactus, and more. Price will depend on the type of pot, the maturity of the plant, and how expensive the mother plant was.
The plants will be available this Saturday (March 31) morning 9-12. I live in Bynum on the north side of the Haw river downstream from the old mill. If you drive past the Methodist church and then past the mill, there is a dirt road just before Bynum Church Road makes a turn to go back up the hill. I live down this dirt road, just beyond the entrance to the State Protected Area hiking trail.
If possible, please hike to my house after parking in the mill parking lot as my drive cannot accommodate more than a few cars.
Thanks,
Larry

FOR ADOPTION:
Handsome Hound Dog, looking for happy home!
Guinness is a friendly, good looking boy. He has had it a little rough, as he was tied and neglected early on. He has been pretty spoiled by the residents in Bynum, but now that he has had his shots, and is heartworm negative (!!), he is looking for a forever home.
He is about 65 pounds, neutered male. He was brown and browner, but had a bath, and there is WHITE in there!
If he sounds like someone you want to meet, please give us a call! We can set up a meeting with this terriffic guy!
Thanks! Amy

Thanks to everyone who came out this Saturday March 31st for our 2nd Annual Doggone Easter Egg Hunt. We had a wonderful turnout...more dogs and their people then last year! We had all shapes and sized dogs from tiny TeaCup Chihuahua's to Labs, Goldens and Dobies and everything in between! Every dog received a pair of bunny ears, Easter basket and as many treat-filled eggs as possible and 3 lucky dogs went home with a basket filled with natural goodies for finding the "Golden Eggs." Come out to the store with your pet-people friendly pooches for an afternoon of fun. We have a fully fenced doggy play area with sandbox and doggy pool and plenty of space for them to run and play! Why not make a play date and come on out! Tammy

Greetings from the bead hive! I first want to thank everyone who came down to the bead hive this weekend to support the store during the trunk show. With your continued support the expansion will be spectacular. So, thank you all for your continued business and your lovely comments about my store. It means a great deal to me and I am extremely grateful, thank you!
As you all know there was a drawing for a twenty dollar gift certificate with every purchase. The winner of this drawing was C. Hill of Carrboro. Congratulations and thank you for your purchase this weekend.
The show was a lot of fun for myself and the staff at the bead hive, I enjoyed reading everyone's comments about what they would like to see at the store. I am compiling an order today (Tuesday) so those items should be here by Friday if all goes well and nothing is on back order.
The biggest seller at the show was of course the $3.00 tables, and what a screamin' deal, most of those strands retail for $20.00 or more. I was happy to offer you those prices and will keep a look out for that sort of deal for future shows. I like to pass along the great deals when I receive them myself.
I did feel however that the semi-precious stones, (or as I like to call them, precious stones, because all stones are precious to me) weren't as hot of a seller. So I contacted my distributor and explained that I wanted to offer a better deal to my customers before I pack it all up. I want to offer you another opportunity at a better price than my original offer.
This is what I would like to call the "I don't want to pack it up sale". I will still have the $3.00 strand table as well as the new spring line of Czech Pressed Glass that you can buy from at the original show special, and in addition to that my offer to you is this...
*30% off all Semi-Precious Stones*. This offer is valid on show strands only, this doesn't include the Czech pressed glass or the $3.00 strands. This offer ends Saturday April 8th, or while supplies last. I was grateful to have the extension and I hope that it pleases you all that you have another opportunity at some great prices on some really fantastic beads!
So come to the bead hive the rest of this week and grab that strand you were after but at an even better price than before!

Thanks again!!!

*The Unforeseen* The regional premiere screening of the remarkable new documentary film by Laura Dunn, featuring a presentation and Q&A with the filmmaker. *Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.*
Love Auditorium, Levine Science Research Center, Duke University, Durham, NC /Presentation immediately followed by an eco-reception featuring sustainable choices in food, beverage and service. / This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. /The Unforeseen/, Laura Dunn's feature film debut, received high praise at the Sundance Film Festival. /The Unforeseen/ investigates the interplay between the American Dream and unchecked development and environmental sustainability and the protection of natural resources. Called a "lyrical and beautifully crafted documentary" and a "transformative viewing experience," /The Unforeseen/, and the presentation by Laura Dunn to follow, is not to be missed.
Laura Dunn started making documentaries in response to her undergraduate experience at Yale University. Through her films /The Subtext of a Yale Education/ (1999),/ Baby /(199), /Green/ (2000) and /Become the Sky /(2002), Dunn examined the corporatization of higher education, environmental racism, and population growth. Her work has screened internationally at film festivals and art galleries, and she has received a Rockefeller Foundation Media Arts Fellowship, a Student Academy Award, and Yale's Trumbull Fine Arts Prize. Dunn is a grateful wife, proud mother to a spirited toddler, and ardent defender of her adoptive hometown of Austin, Texas.
This seminar series is made possible by a generous gift from the Coca-Cola Foundation. The presentation will be followed by an Eco-Reception featuring sustainable choices in food and beverage provided by Bon Vivant.

Phyllis wrote: "I buy chicken leg quarters, then skin them, and boil them. The meat is removed from the bone, and I use the broth where I boiled the chicken to cook rice (with the boiled chicken meat back in the pot). My dogs really love this, and it's pretty good for them. "
My plott hound, Mingus, is now 12 1/2 years old. He had severe skin problems when I got him at 2 yrs.old. Think Leprosy. Bald with green oozing sores all over. Ewww. He did not want to live, he was so miserable. I worked really hard finding the right combo of foods to keep him healed and beautiful... for years now a glorious brindle tiger coat. Over the years if I differed from this diet (ie Pedigree or Alpo cans, NOT), the sores came back. The Miracle was: Kroger's el cheapo Pet Pride, all flavors, and the ProPlan Lamb/Rice dry food (with other stuff, to follow). When Kroger's dropped their Pet Pride and got instead the "Good and Meaty" ( hey.... do you know that anything with a "Y" on the end of it is phoney? ChocolateY chips.... NOT chocolate, i.e.?), I somehow became pre-cog and went to all the Kroger's and bought up like 100 cans of Pet Pride that remained on the shelves before "Good and Meaty" took over. WOW !!! Thanks, Fates! Here is my plan. If sweet ol' Ming outlives my stock of Pet Pride (end dates all prior 2010), he will continue to be fed the ProPlan Lamb/rice, and I will add brown rice, many fresh veggies, beef/on/sale, chicken livers, gizzards, occasional eggs, human food leftovers, all of which I have always added to his dog food. I will just eliminate canned food and increase the above natural foods. I hope we can all adjust to this really horrific and sad situation. Sorry guys, to the pet food industry. As to the above post from Phyllis, any meat and veggies will be good for our beloved pets. The more variety, the better, so we don't miss anything needed. Kira
