I buy chicken leg quarters, then skin them, and boil them. The meat is removed from the bone, and I use the broth where I boiled the chicken to cook rice (with the boiled chicken meat back in the pot).
My dogs really love this, and it's pretty good for them.

Any such list will be out of date almost as soon as it’s done, since there is no regulation on the industry and businesses come and go all the time.
You might consider the link to How to Hire a Landscaper.
You should also think about what kind of grass you are planting. Most people in our area use Fescue; plantings of Fescue in the spring are about 50% less successful than those done in September. Fescue is a “cool season grass” and regardless of what the advertisements say, now is not a good time to plant it or fertilize it. Whatever you have now may be better than what you can achieve with Fescue now.
We can also grow warm-season grasses such as bermuda, centipede, or zoysia.
They can be planted in May or June. They also should not be fertilized this month. I don’t know what the advertisers have in mind, but I don’t know a grass grown in our area that should be seeded or fertilized now.

In a Chatlist post of 2/22 or so, Eric Shook posted gossip about town manager, Sam Misenheimer. Here's the e-mail, I sent to him directly:

Eric - If you have questions about Sam Misenheimer, the PBO Town Manager, you should call Randy for clarification at 919-949-1274 before spreading rumors. The "details" you admit to being unsure about on the ChatList (thank you very little!) are wrong and are making a difficult situation worse for Mr. Misenheimer, Randy, and the town.
On 3/20 or thereabouts, Eric Shook asked about the town installing a "Sanford Road" sign on the south side of the traffic circle.
Here's the e-mail, I sent him:
Subject: Where's the sign for Sanford Rd.
I believe that your complaint is a NC Department of Transportation issue and not for the Town of Pittsboro to address. If you directed your complaint correctly, it would help resolve your problem sooner.
If this is what he considers harassment or I am one he would consider an attack dog, he's wrong. On several occasions, I have both sent direct e-mails to others and received personal e-mails from others that originated from the ChatList. It has been my experience that this is acceptable protocol. Decide for yourself. I am no attack dog. Like anyone else, I have ideas to share and want to--and do--participate in the community.
By the way, the organization that helps business owners with these types of issues (signage, etc.) and much more is the Pittsboro Merchant's Association (PMA). The PMA is working with NCDOT to place signage at the 64 by-pass to direct traffic to downtown. It has been a long and laborious process but will result in a new sign.
I'd like to also mention that when my husband, Mayor Randolph Voller, and I built our house in 2005 we bought ALL of the paint (and many other supplies) from Mr. Shook's J. Henry's hardware and continue to support the store by recommending that homeowners and do-it yourselfers buy local at J. Henry. In fact, a friend is opening a bookstore downtown and has been effusive in her praise for Eric's assistance and guidance with the paint. We wish both businesses great success in Pittsboro.

Subject: Woodworker near Pittsboro
Gang:
This is going to sound a little odd, but I need someone to drill a hole down the middle of a turned wooden support.
The support is about 2.5 - 3 feet long and anywhere from 3 to 5 inches wide. I believe I can get bit extensions that would make my drill capable of making the hole, but I am not skilled enough to insure that the hole would be straight (i.e. as I was drilling it might come out of the side).
If you are a woodworker or know of someone who is, I'd love to talk to you about how to solve this problem.

Subject: Boycott Pittsboro Food Lion
When Food Lion open in Pittsboro nearly or about 20 years ago, they gave away free frozen chickens on opening day to the first l00 or so persons entering the store. From that point on, it has been downhill all the way. Even tho, they have added the NC Lottery and Western Union, the store is on the decline. Whatever the reason, Food Lion apparently don't care about how they present their store and their merchandise.
Shameful- that is the word for the produce department at Pittsboro Food Lion. Want to know the "official" reason? The trucks come on Tue. Screw you if you want fresh produce on Sat. afternoon at 4.15 p.m. Either buy the wilted celery and greens or go jump in a hole. Ditto Sun and Monday- why? Because the trucks come in on Tue! If you complain that there is no decent produce late Tue, it is because the "trucks" are late.
There was a time when the quality and selection of produce at Pittsboro Food Lion surpassed Pittsboro's Lowes. That is no longer the case. Chatham Co-Op and Lowes have them beat by several acceptable freshness miles.
There was a time when you could go to Pittsboro's Food Lion and be accidently sprayed with the H2O mist that kept the produce fresh! NO more! The produce is sprayed with water manually- that is, if a man or anyone else happens to think of doing it that day. Result- instant wilted produce. Yellow slime green produce is nothing unusual at Food Lion. No matter how clever they are at placing celery and carrots in abundance, it does not cover up the fact that there is no fresh lettuce, beans, etc.
There was once a time at Food Lion Pittsboro, when you could pick and choose which cucumbers, okra, collards and brussel sprouts you wanted- No more! They are all packaged in size and weight that Imperial Food Lion has assumed that is the norm the average person needs, wants and will buy. We are not supposed to see or even guess that they have tucked into that "package" several old, near old and mildew pcs.- therefore getting rid of their "throw away" produce.
Today, at Foodlion Pittsboro- Okra packaged, no expiration date, showed signs of mildew and decay- yet, it was still being offered as fresh. By the way, it was from Nicaragua- so we all know just how fresh that is.
Same story with pickling cucumbers- Expensive and always one or two that are already slimy and mildewed. Most of the time, it is impossible to see decay from the outside. Collards are no longer sold by the pound- you must buy the bunch- Bug eaten, wilted or what-ever- and never in the quanity that I want. Brussel sprouts are from Mexico and look good, but are usually wilted when you open them.
All of the above is not new- I personally know that they have had complaints about the produce section and nothing has been done to remedy the situation. Management just dosen't seem to care. Like it or lump it- is the attitude I seem to get. And it is not only the produce section- Bare shelves remain bare, day after day and you want to know the reason? "We ordered it, but the trucks don't come until Tue"- Now exactly which Tue is that- April 1st 2009?
I say Boycott Pittsboro Food Lion- go anywhere else, but Boycott Pittsboro Food Lion. Let then know you are tired of waiting on the trucks, decent produce and service.

Subject: In regards to fleas
I don't know if any of you have used this method for fleas. It does not kill the fleas, but it will work to make them go elsewhere. For many years we have taken cuttings from black walnut suckers or young green growth, no larger than your finger, with leaves on it. You use them as a strewing herb by placing them around areas you want to be flea free. If they are thin enough, you can even put them in a bag or an old pillowcase under the sofa cushions or under the furniture. As they dry, they give off a scent that the fleas don't like. In about 2 weeks, the area will be flea free. This can be used in your dog pens as well. We have never had a problem with this method working. After the black walnut has completely dried out, you may need to replace it. The black walnut does not give off an odor that I can smell. Black walnut sprigs are readily available on roadsides and maybe even in your own back yard. If the black walnut sprigs have ants on them, you can rinse them off with cold water and shake before using. By using this inside your house, you have an option to rid your home of fleas and not harm your indoor pets. The home made flea traps work as well. We could never keep our pets out of those traps. Fennel also works to repel fleas, but I have never used it except in home made flea collars. Now, if we can just find an herb that works on the ticks....
