*Artists Guild Presents "**Earth** **Ore** Fire"*
Students, alumni, faculty and colleagues of the Carolina Central
Community College Ceramics and Metal Sculpture Program will hold
"Earth Ore Fire", an exhibition of artworks in metal, clay, glass and
concrete. This show, featuring both emerging and established artists,
will run March 17^th to 30^th at the North Carolina Arts Incubator in
historic Siler City. The gallery hours are 10-2 Monday-Friday, 11-5
Saturday. Visitors can meet the artists at a reception on March 23^rd
from 5 to 8 pm at 223 North Chatham Street in Siler City.
"The Earth Ore Fire Show offers art lovers an opportunity to
experience the exciting happenings at the college, arts incubator and
evolving Siler City art scene,"notes Sculpture teacher Kevin Eichner.
"The CCCC Ceramics and Metal Sculpture Program and the NC Arts
Incubator enjoy a symbiotic relationship" Nicole Ward, CCCC student
and Guild President explains, "Art students have the advantage of
interacting with established artists who have working studios at the
incubator, and the incubator has a continuous supply of new talent.".

graduating from this great program this May."
The Professional Arts and Crafts Program in clay and metal sculpture

Could anyone suggest some hiking trails nearby that are good for a long 5-6 hour ramble? I've been exploring along the Haw and around Jordan Lake, but haven't found anything that length. I don't mind hiking part of the way on surface roads, but I prefer the woods most of the way. Thanks!

Subject: From Mayor Voller: PBO Parks and Recreation News
In the Pittsboro Town meeting this past Monday 3/12, the town board authorized a local tree service to remove trees at Kiwanis Park. The park will reopen shortly after this work is done.
In other Pittsboro recreation news: the town board, Mayor Voller and the town's recreation board, established in January 2006, have worked together to successfully renovate the town's tennis courts and will continue to work diligently on other projects. Next up is the renovation of the Town's basketball courts.
Additionally, the town board, Mayor Voller and the town's recreation board have worked hard to obtain 2 sites for in-town parks totaling almost 60 acres of land to be donated to the town. The first is a 10-acre site, the second is a site of about 50 acres. The town board, Mayor Voller and members of the town's recreation board have applied for and hope to secure almost $1 million in grant money from the state of North Carolina in 2007. With this money, infrastructure in these new parks such as fields, dugouts, walking trails, etc. will be built. Citizens interested in seeing these park plans may review them at Town Hall. Other grants that will help make Pittsboro a more pedestrian-friendly community have also been applied for. Many thanks go out to the citizens of Pittsboro who have worked, and continue to work, with the town on these projects.
The recreation initiatives described above are fulfilling a commitment that Randy Voller made to the citizens of Pittsboro during his campaign for Mayor in the fall of 2005.

Hello, all!
My family has recently moved to Pittsboro........and we LOVE it here. Just found this chat list. What a wonderful resource. Thanks to Gene for moderating and generally helping out the community this way.
I am looking for a barn near Pittsboro for my 13 year old horse. I would like to find a barn with mainly casual adult riders, a good barn, nice pasture, some trail riding resources, an arena, and great care for a full time boarder.

Subject: Water Quality Funds
May I suggest that the Town of Pittsboro and Chatham County see if there is any funding available for them in the newly passed Water Quality Financing Act 2007. I know that Pittsboro has little budget and that Chatham has borrowed all of its reserves for capital projects. The $ 14 billion in funding is slated for wastewater treatment plants, which Pittsboro needs, even though it does not have any allotment for discharge.
I may further recommend that Hal House's wastewater treatment system (Integrated Water Strategies) be used. It would improve discharge from the plant and water quality overall for a time in the future when discharge quality is considered by regulators and when Chatham is permitted to discharge more than it presently does in Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL.)

I haven't posted much lately but I decided to respond to Ace in a direct manner . Firstly I am one of those 5 pages of people that haven't paid their taxes or to be more correct ,, paid all of my taxes yet . You see if you have an outstanding balance of $10 you will be in that add . I know a number of the people on that add had to pay income taxes first this year and didn't get the money in on time . But since your treating all of us like criminals let me point out what you really should be upset about as a Taxpayer . Firstly we have had one of the best tax administrators there is running our tax department but since Chatham County is managed by idiots stuck in the 60s that don't pay qualified employees a fair wage we are loosing Kim Horton to Alamance County . They offered her a better deal by far than what we did . We regularly loose good county employees over low pay and bad working conditions . If you wonder what is being done about all of us criminals that haven't p aid our taxes its simple ,, we are working with the tax department to pay those taxes . Those deadbeats that aren't will get their wages garnished or property foreclosed on as its been for oh the past 100 years . But if you still want to complain and throw rocks over your tax money why don't you look at the wasted money instead of the uncollected money .
I live on a state maintained road with county water . We were promised a fire hydrant when we deadbeat tax payers forked over $2500 each for county water . We got poor water quality and no fire hydrant . Guess why we got no hydrant . The county paid for a 6 inch line that will support a hydrant and we got a whopping 2 inch line to supply the whole dang road . Why don't you do the math on the difference in price from 6 inch premium line to 2 inch pvc white plastic line on a 1/8 th mile road . I hate to upset you even more but 902 was supposed to have a water line 4 inches larger than what they discovered the last time they had a major water leak and that's a 30 mile long water line . The fact is water lines are never where they are supposed to be and the paperwork with DOT is often screwed by the lack of cooperation with the county managers office . Chatham County has been robbed blind and the powers that be have not done a dang thing about it . They are aware of these diff erences but neglect to take legal action against the contractors paid to install the lines .
Oh by the way since your still throwing rocks at us deadbeats we wouldn't be so far behind if taxes and appraisals for property hadn't increased so much due to new developments in the northern part of the county and the extra expense we the taxpayer have to fork out for these new wonders even though we never see any benefit for out tax dollars in this part of the county . By the way since you are complaining about what they are doing about delinquent taxes ,, try dumping your trash without a current tax sticker ,, you wont . You cant dump trash unless you have that on your windshield . Now you know why illegal dumping is on the rise in this county . Why don't you ride down 421 past Siler City and look at all the trash dumped up and down that stretch of road .
I learned not to throw rocks at someone till I knew all of the story and to complain about even a mayor not paying taxes is wrong if you don't have the rest of the story . There are often very legitimate reasons for being late on payment of taxes . People like you irritate the crap out of me . If your going to complain ,, complain about something worth complaining over and leave the rest of us alone . Goodnite Mark

Subject: People who do not pay their property taxes
It is just staggering to me at the number of people and businesses that do not pay their property taxes as was shown in the last weeks March 8th edition of the Chatham News/Record. 5 Long pages to be exact of those that did not pay their taxes.
I don't know about you but it gets me a little upset when I pay my taxes and a slew of others don't. Now there might be a good reason for some but not for the thousands of others that were listed.
One thing did concern me was the listing of Voller Properties. I would like to know if that is the mayor's business. If it is it does not show good example for others.
What is going to be done to collect the past due property taxes.
